Job Title Diesel/Industrial Mechanic Job Description Summary Under the supervision of the On-Site Manager, the Diesel/Industrial Mechanic, operates and maintains the facility emergency generator diesel engines and the support systems, including but not limited to the fuel storage, filtration, transfer and disposal, and oily waste collection and disposal. This includes all operations, load testing, and the necessary preventative and corrective maintenance. As needed, support the On-Site Manager with general labor in support of the overall facility maintenance mission. Job Description Primary/Major Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions): Performs skilled and semi-skilled maintenance and repair work on facilities, equipment, or machinery. Assembles, installs and/or repairs: wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems, physical structures, and fixtures as they relate to stationary diesel engines. Diagnoses problems and determines corrective solutions, referring to and/or adhering to blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary. Repairs or replaces defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools and reassembles equipment. Maintains parts, supplies, and equipment; advising the manager and submitting requisitions when parts or supplies need to be ordered. Maintain related records concerning time, labor, and materials; maintain a log of tasks performed and write reports as necessary. Resolve and complete work orders, work with building principals and supervisors to complete projects Respond to emergency calls as needed. Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures. Ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition.
