POSITION SUMMARY In partnership with the Director of Operations, the OPEX Engineer is responsible for the successful planning, development, and execution of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement programs at our Ohio facility. The OPEX Engineer provides oversight on all continuous improvement projects and the standardization of manufacturing processes within the plant and functional departments.The OPEX Engineer will lead a wide range of activities that are designed to improve on-time delivery, productivity, quality, cost, safety, and environmental performance. This position will have a shared responsibility for both process improvement as well as operational performance. The OPEX Engineer is expected to lead and coach management to integrate operations and functions end to end while driving improvement to reduce lead time, improve customer service levels, and lower total operating costs. This position does not directly supervise other personnel. RESPONSIBILITIES Leads site analysis including baseline of operations and financial analysis and continuous measurement and improvement. Implementation of continuous improvement initiatives and drive waste reductions utilizing Lean principles (JIT, Autonomation, Value Stream Mapping, Cycle Time vs TAKT Time, Kaizen, 5S, Standard Work, Line/Cell Design, Single Piece Flow, Material Flow, Visual Management, SMED, TPM, Root Cause Problem Solving, etc.) Coordinate with resource departments to fabricate, install, and implement improvements. Coordinate, plan, and execute 5S and TPM checklists, as well as assisting in internal audit procedures. Leads/Accountable for facility communications, education and trainings related to process improvements and implementation on new processes. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent of 5 plus years' experience in manufacturing environments in areas such as: Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, or Operational Excellence. Six Sigma / Lean certifications, strongly preferred Preferred Qualifications: Hands-on experience in the application of Lean/Six Sigma methods and way of thinking. Ability to coach, teach, and lead leaders to develop continuous improvement strategies, influence decision making, and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the plant operations and functions. Ability to lead change initiatives and drive process excellence. Strong leadership, organizational, project management and inter-personal skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate well with both management, office staff, and craft labor on the shop floor. Strong analytical skills, including the use of statistical modeling techniques, root cause analysis and other tools and methods typically deployed to drive operational improvements. Strong experience in applying and coaching change management, behavior coaching and performance management methods. Ability to influence and lead in a matrix organization to drive accountably and execution of lean mindset and activities. Previous experience leading teams.
