Packaging EngineerIndustry: Wound Care / Topical Creams / Personal CareLocation: Carrollton, TXShift: M-F, standard business hours (on-site)Pay: $110K - $120K annually, based on experienceThe Packaging Engineer will oversee the entirety of product technology projects, from assessing and scrutinizing packaging for new projects (NPD) to determining the appropriate packaging components for a product. This role aims to equip the company with top-tier capabilities for launching and producing skincare, suncare, and pharmaceutical products. Collaboration with various departments such as RID, Strategic Planning, Innovation Management, Procurement, Quality, and Operations will span from initial stages to Post Start-Up Support.Qualifications:Preferably a Master's degree in engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in engineering or R&D, ideally within the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry or related sectors.Prior experience in CPGs, particularly in skincare, home, beauty, and personal care product technologies.Demonstrated expertise in process or packaging engineering.Experience in a GMP environment with OTCs.Familiarity with chemical process/packaging equipment principles and practices, as well as hygienic and sustainable design.Proficient in project and time management to coordinate multiple work streams and project timelines.Proficiency in SOLs: Purpose & Service, Personal Mastery, Agility, Business Acumen, Passion for High Performance.Ability to apply critical thinking for effective problem-solving.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.Experience in leading and influencing teams through various projects (Project Management).Understanding of packaging systems and their integration into plant manufacturing systems for personal care and OTCs.Responsibilities:Comprehension of innovation management workflows within the personal care industry.Evaluation of packaging for new projects (NPD) and modifications in current packaging, alongside selecting suitable packaging components for products.Serving as a crucial link between RID/Operations/Production to aid in packaging decisions for formula development, bulk, and finished goods.Offering innovative support by suggesting new packaging concepts.Assisting in line trials across different departments to ensure accurate packaging components and compatibility with equipment for products.Assessing and selecting the appropriate packaging for products, ensuring compatibility with the product and packaging.Collaborating closely with RID, Operations, and Quality Assurance to assess the compatibility of packaging components for line trials and production, utilizing available equipment and resources for successful production runs.Assisting Quality (Assurance or Control) in developing equipment specifications for commercial production runs, such as fill weight, torque, seal test, and crimping.Overseeing the development and testing of new packaging and improving existing packaging quality.Leading and monitoring packaging execution for new product launches and sharing insights from line trials with Operations.Engaging with external partners, clients, vendors in the consumer goods and personal care industry, as well as internal teams.Coordinating packaging components and materials with packaging and filling, RID, and Quality Assurance teams.
