Find your future with us.The Boeing Space, Intelligence & Weapon Systems (SIWS) has an exciting opportunity for Avionics and Software Flight Systems Responsible Engineers (Associate, Mid-Level and Senior Level) to join the Avionics & Software (AV&SW) Flight Systems team in Huntsville, AL on the Space Launch System (SLS) program contracts.National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA) SLS is the one of the most powerful rockets in the world and offers unprecedented capabilities related to payload mass, volume and energy to enable deep space crewed/uncrewed exploration. SLS is designed to be flexible and evolvable and will open new opportunities for crewed deep space missions. The Exploration Upper Stage (EUS) is SLS's first evolution of design improvements to enhance those capabilities as part of the Block 1B SLS Architecture.Position Responsibilities:Designs electronic hardware focused on space launch vehicle applicationsDevelops avionics assembly designs primarily focused within the following fields:Electrical Power Systems (EPS) - Power distribution/control and battery design and testingCommand & Data Handling (C&DH) - Telemetry packaging and routingRadio Frequency (RF) - Transmitter, antenna and passive component design along with RF link analysisGuidance, Navigation and Controls (GN&C) - Global Positioning System (GPS), gyro/accelerometer design for inertial systemsCompares actual results/execution to baseline plan to assess project performance, efficiencies, productivity and lessons learned.Provides technical, business and integration leadership for the development and execution of project or team plansDevelops, documents and maintains electronic and electrical system requirements according to customer desires and contract requirementsLeads and coordinates work to analyze and translate requirements into system architecture, hardware and software designs and interface specifications.Develops of statements-of-work and technical performance specificationsDevelops of test plans/procedures and supports the execution test eventsLeads Root Cause/Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations and resolutionsExecutes various methods of testing and analysis to support design and production and to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirementsWorks with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of productsLeads formal trade studies and literature research to support future product designsDevelops solutions to technical problemsExercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment.Represents the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects.Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.Completed work is reviewed for desired results from a relatively long-term perspective.Ability to work well both independently and within a team environmentThis position is expected to be 100% onsite.
