The Engineering Technician will help ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels of data center operations. The Data Center Engineering Technician will be responsible for ensuring the overall operation and maintenance of all electrical, mechanical, and HVAC equipment within the data center. This equipment supports mission-critical servers and must maintain better than 99.999% uptime. The Data Center Engineering Technician will continue to maintain high reliability and performance while keeping operating costs in facilities at a minimum. Engineering Technicians are Amazon’s front line when it comes to hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting. We all share a responsibility to advance the company’s mission by excelling at our three corporate priorities – safety of our people and the public, operational excellence in all that we do, and ensuring the best possible customer experience. **Core Responsibilities** + The Engineering Supervisor is responsible for supervising Jr.-Sr. Designers, mapping contractors & clerks with updating and maintain gas mains, services and regulator plates. + The Engineering Supervisor will be prioritizing managing and assigning new and emerging work for mapping that addresses the backlog and aging paperwork. + The Engineering Supervisor will ensure all mapped work complies with the appropriate timeframes as defined in CI-940. + The Engineering Supervisor is responsible for facilitating RTC closeouts by working closely with construction personnel and mappers. + The Engineering Supervisor will conduct regular QA of mapped work to ensure the gas plates have been updated accurately. + The Engineering Supervisor is responsible for investigating contractor damages and identifying solutions to lapses in our mapping processes and best practices. + The Engineering Supervisor is responsible for locating and interpreting records to support company-wide and external personnel, including but not limited to, the GERC and Con Edison's Law Department. + The Engineering Supervisor is responsible for maintaining CI-940 and DOJT GAS0384 and facilitating training to company personnel responsible for preparing gas mains and services as-constructed sketches. + The Engineering Supervisor is responsible for learning and training designers and contractors on all software pertaining to mapping, including but not limited to, ArcFM, Gas Central, and Adept. + Perform other related tasks & assignments as required. **Required Education/Experience** + Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 2 years full time work experience in gas engineering or operations. **Relevant Work Experience** + 2 years Gas Engineering or Operations experience Required + Working knowledge of eGIS or related mapping products Required + AutoCAD, and project/contract management experience Required + Familiarity with the PSC requirements Required + Prior supervisory or managerial experience Preferred **Skills & Ability** + Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, etc. + Well organized, detail oriented and flexible to handle multiple assignments + Strong written and verbal communication skills **Licenses & Certifications** + Driver's License Required **Physical Demands** + Ability to respond to system emergencies + Able to work in all weather conditions, i.e. excessive heat and/or cold + Ability to work with, and in, the vicinity of high voltage and/or other high-energy systems + Ability to travel to company locations to work on storm restoration and heat contingencies + Wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), i.e. fire-retardant clothing and safety harnesses **Other Physical Demands** + Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers. + Must be able and willing to drive within Company service territory as needed. + Must be able to work additional hours and or rotating shifts as operational needs and/or system emergencies dictate. + Work in an office environment including sitting, bending and extensive computer work required. **Technical Difficulty Statement** + For technical issues, please contact us at [email protected] **Equal Opportunity Employer** + Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc.
