This role supports and enables our Sales Reps as a technical expert on National Standards Products to cultivate and grow NS Welding. Job Description Primary Responsibilities Responsibilities include: • Manage and performing welding with all arc welding process and base materials. • Prepare and weld test coupons for various wire certifications, product evaluations, quality testing and customer samples. • Performing tests on various filler metals for qualification and process evaluation (Examples: feedability, weldability). • Evaluate the impact of wire manufacturing experiments on welding. • Coordinate with and managing outside testing laboratories to perform destructive and non-destructive testing, heat treatment, diffusible hydrogen testing, chemical analysis, and all other related testing. • Performing in-house tests on weld samples. • Preparing weld samples for metallographic examination. • Photographing and rating samples per standard and new procedures. • Working with outside labs to perform SEM/XPS and AA analytical methods to obtain test results for sample characterization and problem solving. • Documenting test results and producing necessary reports and graphs. • Maintaining welding laboratory, including managing consumables, filler metals and equipment. • Developing weldability comparison scoring and evaluation tools for benchmarking.
