DepartmentPATHOLOGY AND LABORATORY MED (IN-PATH-IUINA) Department InformationThe Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Indiana University and IU Health Physicians is comprised of over 250 individuals working together to achieve success in fulfilling the tripartite mission. The department has over 100 faculty members with a primary appointment in pathology, 80 of whom are dually employed pathologists and PhD clinical scientists. Pathology has a combined operating budget of nearly $60MM, comprised of clinical revenues, foundation funding, contracts and grants, and various other ancillary funding sources. The department has a strong footprint in clinical education with allied health programs in medical laboratory science, histotechnology and cytotechnology. In addition to teaching medical students, each year the department trains 22 pathology residents and approximately 15 fellows training in the 12 different subspecialty fellowships within the department.The pathology clinical faculty are all dually employed by IU Health Physicians and Indiana University and support the IU Health system, as well as Eskenazi Hospital, Roudebush VA Medical Center, and Marion County Coroner's Office.
