The Coatings Lead / Supervisor is the job site trade specialist who has significant experience managing large projects and is considered the paint project Subject Matter Expert with a demonstrated ability to mentor and develop trade team members, while continually managing and improving processes that drive high quality while meeting customer expectations. Responsibilities and Key Result Areas Plan and execute the daily activities of assigned projects in accordance with the established schedule and budget. Manage the daily labor hours and materials of each project by task and ensure they are accurately recorded on the appropriate work order, job and task. Work on-board the vessels with assigned tradesmen as required. Manage the activities of all supplemental technicians performing work in designated trade. Review work in process to ensure achievement of quality standards, budgeted hours and schedule. Ensure appropriate materials are on-hand in a timely manner. Recruit, select and train new trade team members with a team sized to forecast requirements. Responsible for the assigned shop space cleanliness and organization. Responsible for training Team Members in the safe and proficient use and process of shop related test equipment. Develop and promote new and better ways to perform trade related tasks and procedures. Enthusiastically support and ensure an effective trade training process is available to develop Team Members. Work hand in hand with Team Members to assist and mentor them on standards and procedures. Mentor and train Team Leaders (and other PM's) in general product knowledge and procedures. Required Skills Extensive knowledge of metals, wood and composite materials and fillers associated with surface preparation for application of finishes to interior and exterior surfaces. Project management of highly complex jobs requiring substantial knowledge of marine construction techniques as it relates to metal, wood and composite materials, vessel structure, and assembly/build processes. Ability to work effectively with supply chain for paints, composite materials, wood finishes, fillers, etc. Required Experience 10+ years managing large paint operations for marine or aerospace projects Seven to ten years of related experience at a professional level Two or more years in a full supervisory role, providing leadership, coaching, guidance and training and contributing to staff development.
