Job Summary Vertiv is hiring an Associate Controls Engineer in Minneapolis, MN to direct, design, develop, test and resolve issues with control systems and components for HVAC equipment operation. Discipline focuses on HVAC equipment operation utilizing Direct Digital Control (DDC) Systems and tools provided by the chosen DDC hardware and software supplier. The engineer will be proficient in HVAC equipment operation, control system principles, implementation, operational programming, HMI programming, Building Management System (BMS) integration including ancillary input and output devices. The engineer is responsible for seeing a control system project/order through the design, release to production, manufacturing, testing and field support cycles. May interact with other groups such as marketing, application engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, procurement, manufacturing, end of line testing, and service to ensure the equipment has the right feature set, meets the cost & schedule targets and can be manufactured. This role actively works with all departments throughout the life cycle of projects. ETO projects demand being responsive to customer required functions/features with short design/development lead times. Seamless involvement is required starting at the project submission process, into manufacturing, factory testing, site commissioning and service support. The ideal candidate can cover all aspects of the job description; however, most candidates often have an affinity to specific activities. This division is acceptable, depending on the rest of the teams talents. Responsibilities: Evaluate specifying engineer HVAC control design specifications and then define/quote solutions. Create documentation for project submittals including: Sequence of Operations (SOO), Piping and Instrumentation (P&I) diagrams, Human Machine Interface (HMI) Guides, Building Management System (BMS) integration tables and guides. Create documentation for production including: Controller IO lists, sensor and other device details/defaults Create operational code, HMI code, BMS interface code and test solutions. Review electrical prints for correct connection to controller and ancillary devices. Create final documentation for equipment O&M including: SOO, HMI Guide, BMS integration details and device O&M documents. Application Engineer, HVAC Controls

POSITION SUMMARY The Application Engineer, HVAC Controls provides pre-sales technical expertise to the sales team and customers during the sales process focused around chilled water systems. The ideal candidate will have experience in Chilled Water Systems and Operation, Control Theory, Advanced HVAC Controls and BMS or BAS protocols. The Application Engineer provides technical input into bid proposals, projects and technical documents within the sales process and identifies additional sales opportunities with existing customers. The Application Engineer collaborates with sales teams to develop and recommend products and services to meet customers' requirements. RESPONSIBILITIES Assist in developing clear, concise, and technically sound tailored solutions for customer review and acceptance based on customer requirements and/or RFP's, ensuring proper scope and required technical specifications are met. Full understanding of controls theory and operation of the iCOM-S CW Manager Apply Quote Configurator tool to provide comprehensive quote support. Assist in the review of custom thermal management service & solution orders and provide technical instruction throughout the order workflow. Review Order Entry requests and assign work tickets to the correct service competency. Provide monthly updates on quote requests, turnaround times, closure rates for requests. Provide leadership in the area of Chilled Water Equipment, HVAC controls and BMS integration to Vertiv thermal management equipment. Participate in new product development projects. Other duties as required. Use engineering Tools such as Oracle CPQ and legacy systems (Partnerweb, LRS, SMS, LES) to develop sales proposals in support to the Cooling business for Vertiv representatives. Review project specifications, drawings, RFPs and SOO to determine best solutions for customer critical space needs. Create and develop Project electrical and control submittals, schematics, SOO (sequence of operations), MOPs (method of procedure) and any other technical information required by the customer. QUALIFICATIONS 2+ years Commercial or relevant Industrial experience. Experience in Chilled Water Systems and Operation, Control Theory and advanced HVAC controls and BMS protocols. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Detail-oriented. Ability to work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Provide direction and support for implementation and continued use of tools and methods utilized in the improvement of system reliability. Lead implementation and apply advanced quality processes, methods and tools for all new product development programs. Develop and report critical product metrics for warranty and reliability tracking and projections. Effectively work across all product development areas in the company to drive and sustain a strong quality culture across the overall organization. The Design Engineer provides detailed instructions and guidance to the Vertiv Installation team by way of new and/or marked up drawings, including but not limited to all site plan drawings (i.e., Cabling, Floor, Cable Rack, Lighting, Grounding, etc.), Equipment Wiring List and Block Schematics, Front Equipment drawings and a detailed Installation Procedure (Specification). The Design Engineer's role also includes the provision of a detailed Bill of Material (BOM) reflecting all necessary installation material required to install new equipment completely and accurately, as required by the customer's Engineering and Installation standards. Site surveys and customer visits may be required to gather information for the Scope of Work (SOW) to be performed. Perform computational fluid dynamic analysis on solution to ensure fluid flow and heat extraction meet customer specifications. The Design Engineer will be required to provide technical support services and guidance to the Vertiv Installation team and the customer, while maintaining the highest level of quality and professionalism. RESPONSIBILITIES Achieve required engineering metrics. Work closely with Project Management and Installation teams to ensure project profitability is met. Ensure the Engineering package is at the highest level of quality possible. Ensure the accuracy of materials ordered is at the highest level possible. Perform all work with safety in mind and ensure that all safety measures are met. Assist Field Engineering team as needed providing support for pricing of projects. Solution-based thinking that will incorporate mechanical, electrical, structural, and other engineering competencies to an end-customer deployment. A working knowledge of IT and Telecom industry end-applications to successfully deploy the support infrastructure required. Ability to manage multiple projects effectively and efficiently.
