Be familiar with and understand the use of facial recognition software and how it is an aid in the investigative process for the DMV Fraud Unit•Identify, locate, interview, and take statements from victims, witnesses and persons suspected of involvement in criminal fraud activity or have related knowledge to use as evidence in administrative or criminal actions.•Collect, preserve, record evidence, and establish the basis for criminal prosecution.•Complete required written investigative reports to accurately reflect facts gathered because of an investigation.•Prepare reports for presentation to prosecuting attorneys throughout the State of Nebraska and United States Attorney's Office for prosecution.•Develop and work with informants, conduct surveillance and undercover investigations to identify fraudulent practices.•Act as lead investigator with other law enforcement or state investigative agencies assisting with DMV cases.•Assist other state and federal law enforcement officers and state and federal investigative agencies in the investigation of criminal acts relating to DMV fraud throughout the State of Nebraska.•Prepare and testify at administrative/criminal proceedings as they relate to DMV state and federal fraud and customs/immigration cases along with properly monitoring the progress of cases through the judicial system.•Authenticate records and documents and collaborate with other law enforcement officials and city and county attorneys along with the Nebraska Attorney General andU.S. Attorney's Offices in developing criminal cases for prosecution.•Work with these same entities to assist in clearing erroneous driving violations and criminal records on behalf of individuals who have been victims of identity theft.•Consult and work with insurance companies, law enforcement officials, other state agency investigative staff and other entities to facilitate investigation and to provide documentation of relevant facts.•Providing fraudulent document training for vehicle ownership, personal identification documents, and identity theft.Requirements / Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications: Nebraska Law Enforcement Certification and valid driver's license, post-secondary education in criminal justice, business or public administration and previous work experience in law enforcement investigations, investigative experience in other state, local or private agencies in auto fraud/theft and identity fraud/theft. Must have resigned or terminated from any previous law enforcement agency in good standing as required by Nebraska State Statute.Preferred Qualifications:Three to five years in law enforcement, regulatory or civil investigations, interpreting motor vehicle laws and statutes, authenticating records and documents, investigating identity theft/fraud, and vehicle theft/fraud, taking statements from witnesses, preparing court testimony, training, and/or making presentations to groups. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email programs. Experience with intelligence and evidence software such as TLO, CLEAR, SCOPENOW, ACCURINT and/or PENLINK (PLX) is a Bonus.Other:Must be able to obtain sworn Nebraska Special State Deputy Sheriff certification along with becoming certified as a United States of America, Department of Homeland Security Investigations, Immigration and Customs Enforcement Task Force Officer within six months of hire.
