Who We Are: Join the Data Analysis and Science Support Software group in the Space Research Department as a software engineering intern. You will be helping senior staff develop innovative software solutions for data management, analyses, and visualization in support of space scientists conducting research for various NASA missions. Objectives of this Role: Assist in developing processing scripts to process telemetry data into other formats.Work to maintain C++ software for visualization of data.Help with the development of data pipelines to extract, transform, and load data from databases and data files.Daily and Monthly Responsibilities: Assist in development of software in C++ and Python.Proactively learn from and work with experienced Computer Scientists and Physicists to develop advanced solutions.Assist in the implementation of proofs of concept, prototypes and production-grade software while creating unit tests and documentation.Meet with direct Supervisor and provide status reports of progress, problems encountered, and possible solutions.Requirements: Must be pursuing a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Development, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or related degree field.Must be a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior level student.C++, SQL, and Python skills with the ability to work with advanced data structures, data analytics, and machine learning applications.Familiarity with software development on Linux operating systems. Exposure to or interest in data analytics/machine learning concepts and tools.Be a proactive communicator, fast learner, have strong problem-solving and quantitative data analysis skills.Be capable of working both independently and within a team with effective communication skills.A valid/clear driver's license is required. Special Requirements: Must be a U.S. person (i.e., U.S. citizen, non-U.S. citizen national, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee) due to ITAR work in section.
