Position Summary:Provides advanced medical care to patients with complex acute, critical, and/or chronic health conditions in a clinic or hospital setting in one or more specialized areas under the direction of a physician.Position Key Accountabilities:1. In late 2012, the MEDVAMC received official designation as a Kidney Transplant CenterPOSITION DESCRIPTION:The Registered Nurse will provide onsite Surgical Intensive Care Unit, Medical Intensive Care Unit, Cardiac Care Unit, Emergency Room, Medical / Surgical Units, Stepdown Unit, Spinal Cord Injury Unit, and Extended Care Unit Services at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center (MEDVAMC) located at 2002 Holcombe Boulevard, Houston, TX. The CHI team is internationally recognized for providing patients with excellent quality cardiac care for children and adults with congenital heart defects.There are 27 cardiologists offering acute care, fetal, cardiac MR/CT, interventional, electrophysiology, heart failure, transplant, pulmonary hypertension, exercise physiology, preventive and community cardiology services along with 4 dedicated congenital heart surgeons. The hospital has a 20-bed dedicated cardiac ICU, 20 intermediate care beds, and a 120-bed NICU.
