With more than 60 patents, we create the technology that enables our customers to make fact-based decisions, improve process yields and comply with ever-changing regulatory requirements.The Role The Commodity Manager is responsible for providing the design and implementation of sourcing solutions that ensure continuity of direct and indirect spend of supplies enabling various business groups to operate efficiently, support internal requirements, corporate cost objectives, and enables cost effective solutions for spending across the North America, South America, APAC, and EMEA regions. Responsible for oversight on performance metrics related to Quality, Delivery, and Cost, and have overall responsible to analyze and execute decisions regarding supplier selection, overall performance, and problem resolution/crisis management. A successful candidate for this position will have experience with developing commodity management strategies and implementing policies that mandate supplier compliance with company financial, environmental and human rights objectives. Preferred candidates will have both business and technical experience in the areas of lasers, optics, optical coatings, and precision machining.Specific Job Responsibilities: Provides management support for business and strategic procurement activities related to Direct and Indirect SpendProvides strategic supply chain management by developing lean and highly responsive suppliers; collaborate with Buyers to ensure performance of monthly and quarterly business reviews with identified key suppliers in the field of optics, laser, electronics, machined parts, etc.Develop global materials management procedures and fully implement across all global manufacturing and field service sites.Maintain compliance with corporate and manufacturing operational policies and procedures.Ensure that the highest ethical standards are adhered to in procurement practices.Work with Buyers and Supplier Quality Engineers to ensure that suppliers are capable of meeting PMS' objectives related to maintaining the critical balance between cost, quality and assurance of supply as required by the growth projections of the company and requirements for security of instrument performance and safety ratings.Develops key suppliers to meet supplier certification requirements, and reviews and maintains metrics related to supplier performance standards.Evaluates geo-political influences, market and price trends, new products, and manufacturing processes that improve overall commodity team performance.Overall responsibilities for price negotiations and all business award decisions within established decision hierarchyDevelops and administers supplier contracts for managing costs, payment terms, schedules, performance factors, service levels, supplier liability limits, and continuity of supply.Works closely with suppliers to identify non-value-added processes and costs, as well as opportunities for leveraged buying of materials that may be common across platforms in the material supply chain.Takes action to ensure continuous improvement of the Buyer team's productivity and effectiveness through adequate training of personnel.Communicates supplier and commodity strategy, purpose, and long-term direction to the commodity team and executive management.Provides the overall coordination of the Spectris Corporate supply chain to ensure continuity of supply and that suppliers meet corporate strategic needs. Hiring a Supplier Quality Engineer - Electronics in the Boulder, CO area.This is a great Direct Hire Opportunity with great benefits.The RoleThe Supplier Quality Engineer - Electronics will be dedicated to improving the incoming quality and reliability of printed circuit board assemblies sourced from key suppliers. They will work with a sourcing team member as the key liaisons between our global suppliers and our supply chain, quality, design engineering, and manufacturing engineering teams in the pursuit of comprehensive upstream In-circuit and functional test coverage and defect prevention.Specific Job Responsibilities:Develop strong process knowledge and working relationships with our PCBA manufacturers; visit sites regularly (Primarily Mexico and Thailand) to review quality practices and processes and work with suppliers to continually improve.Evaluate and report on PCBA supplier performance via monthly business reviews and quarterly scorecard reviews.Perform root cause analysis of non-conforming PCBAs and drive continuous improvement projects to reduce scrap, rework, and field (Warranty/DOA) failures.Issue Supplier Corrective Action Request (SCARs) and drive effective root cause identification and corrective/preventive actions.Collaborate with PMS engineering and manufacturing to build product knowledge and skill set to develop functional test fixtures for mature products for use at suppliers and/or use internally.Develop best practices for establishing minimum test coverage and design rules to ensure PCBAs are testable using ICT, FCT, Flying Probe or other appropriate means.Conduct supplier audits and ensure closure of all ensuing actions.Act as lead for "first article" qualification of new and revised PCBAs.Join NPI project teams (New Product Introduction) to ensure that adequate supplier-based risk-reduction has been performed prior to release of new products.Partner with 3rd party In-Circuit and Functional Test development firms to define and execute test plans for PCBAs.Work with key suppliers to support product transfers from Thailand to Mexico and form US-based prototype facilities to the longer term production locations.Define incoming inspection plans for PCBAs.~30% travel required.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree or higher education in Electrical Engineering or manufacturingMinimum 5 years' work experience in Engineering with a minimum of five years in Supplier Quality Engineering.Technical background or experience in PCBA manufacturing and fabrication processes, rules, technical challenges, and acceptance criteria (SMT, AOI, X-ray, ICT, FCT)Experience with cross functional team settings transitioning products from Design to Production.Experience conducting supplier assessments/audits to ISO or other standards.Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, and communication skills.Electronic Equipment Manufacturing: 3 years (Preferred)Certification to IPC-A-600, IPC-A-610, IPC-J-Std-001 (Preferred)ISO Quality Standards and Quality Systems: 5 years (Preferred)ASQ CQE or CQA certification preferred
