Supervisor, Phlebotomy

Under the direction of the Phlebotomy Manager, Director of Laboratory Services and the Operations Manager, the Phlebotomy Supervisor is responsible for all daily phlebotomy operations of the laboratory. This includes the staffing, coordination, training and competencies of the Laboratory Phlebotomy staff. Provides direct supervision of phlebotomists. The specific job duties are listed below for the Phlebotomy Supervisor.Oversees all activities and supervises Phlebotomy Staff.Prepares and performs employee annual appraisals on time.Manages corrective action plans for employees.Manages departmental purchasing and employee payroll.Assures that the Phlebotomy Department is properly scheduled and staffed at all times.Performs pediatric and adult phlebotomy on outpatients and/or inpatients venously or by heel and finger stick.Certifies that all phlebotomists are competent in all phlebotomy techniques including, if applicable, pediatric phlebotomy (venously by pediatric needle or butterfly method and micro collections by heel stick or finger stick).Coordinates and supervises the activities of new employees during their training period.Coordinates the overall daily department activities of the phlebotomy program at designated inpatient or outpatient sites for Salem Hospital Laboratory Services.Partners with the Phlebotomy Manager in the selection and hiring of new phlebotomy staff.
