This position will lead a team of employees to assist with strategic capital planning, business financial management, researching, benchmarking, business integration, regulatory requests, trending, reliability, and data analysis. This position will support measurement of business unit key performance indicators, strategic plan metrics and other initiatives to assist in driving performance improvement opportunities within the company. This position will work at all levels across the organization to interact with subject matter experts and business leaders. Lead team of personnel to help establish and achieve business unit timelines, milestones, strategic plans, and key performance indicators for safety, compliance, reliability, vegetation work plans, customer service and financial performance. Exercise sound decision making by developing alternatives and recommendations to drive work processes, improve reliability and financial efficiencies into the vegetation management program. Ensure that business financial activities, processes and procedures are performed in accordance with all applicable internal company accounting requirements and parameters. When necessary, investigate, update accounting policies and/or create and write new accounting policies when needed. Assist with developing and maintain internal financial document controls and drive consistency through standardizing, and/or updating forms, templates, talking points, innovative solutions, emergent technology, advanced analytics, work management software, strategic plans, change management plans, etc., as needed. Identify and support opportunities for financial savings and improved reliability, revising business unit processes, procedures, workflows, and other areas of improvement (i.e. FE Forward initiatives, rate cases, business cases, strategic plans, innovative cost savings measures and/or performance analysis, etc). Lead team to provide continual day-to-day operational support for department personnel and contractors on items such as timesheets, invoicing, accruals, journal entries, expenses, budgeting, forecasts, capital presentations, variances, metrics, requisitions, purchase orders, storm accounting, and other financial transactions for business unit as needed. Provide routine and emergent operational, reliability and financial data support as needed. Continuously monitor program for performance, reliability, compliance, operational and financial metrics associated with improvements/declines in operational key performance indicators, business unit strategic plan goals, provide clear and concise findings, and support change management/mitigation/action plans where needed. Responsible for providing corporate support of vegetation management program with financial and reliability related requests for business unit pertaining to such things as internal/external audits, regulatory rate cases, legal testimonies and hearings, grants, benchmarking surveys, business cases, key regulatory filings, business unit reporting, internal controls, capital portfolio, strategic plans, metrics, charters, priorities for program initiatives and projects. Continually conduct advance analytical data analysis ensuring effectiveness of business unit processes via research, analyzing data, identifying trends, interpreting results, assisting with artificial intelligent data model creation/testing/use, and making recommendations on matters related to vegetation management for leadership. Responsible for supporting business unit contract administration, bid file/should cost updates, purchase orders, change orders documentation/edits, requisitions, sourcing procurement methods, working on procurement request with Supply Chain, contract scorecard metrics, Coupa liaison providing training, support, and assisting with requests as needed. Identify and participate in the implementation of continuous improvement, innovative, emergent technologies, business unit initiatives, FE Forward projects and other related to financials, processing and analyzing vegetation related data and scorecard, bid files, contract strategies, assessing financial incentive/penalties for vendors. Responsible for reporting on business unit financials including such items as budgets, variances, regulatory audits, vegetation management workflow, contractor costs and production statistics using software applications such as, SAP, Microsoft Power BI, Toad Data Point, etc. on regular and routine basis. Support business unit report environment through testing, developing, and enhancing existing data extraction tools and working directly with report developers as needed to maintain department dashboards and reports. Continually and proactively analyze financial operating expenses, monitor for capital vs. expense, ensure appropriate policy decisions are being executed according to current accounting policies, provide financial insights to project and work spend, oversee and monitor financials to advocate for changes to future accounting policies and program changes. Work with leadership and operations, on multi-year forecasts to ensure forecasted project costs are accurately categorized based on applicable accounting policies and rules. Use financial and reliability information to drive data informed decisions that assist in managing of business unit expenses and project costs across the various states. Present information to senior leadership to drive cost reduction and decision making. Collaborate cross-functionally within the organization to build relationships and provide support for all aspects of the vegetation program with such groups as Business Services, Accounting, Tax, Supply Chain, Legal, Claims, Corporate Risk, Rates & Regulatory Affairs, IT Business Solutions, Capital Portfolio, Outage Management, Reliability, Digital Factory, Performance and Process Improvement, Communications, and Safety Departments. Demonstrate sound internal and/or external excellent customer service. Attending meetings for the development, communication, training, support, and implementation of current, and new program requirements with vegetation management staff, contractors, and any other external stakeholders including industry conferences and peer utilities, as needed. Engage peer utilities and other industries for benchmarking on accounting practices, policies, and procedures, including opportunities to enhanced processes and continuous improvement, as needed. Collaborate and support other Program Management Supervisors and teams within business unit, as needed. Performing storm restoration activities, field observations or field inspections as required. This position will require occasional to moderate travel and overnight stays (25%-50%) throughout Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, West Virginia, and Maryland. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, data analytics, data science, or related discipline. In lieu of Bachelor's Degree, Associate Degree along with 7 (seven) years of related work experience, or High School Diploma (or GED) along with 14 (fourteen) or more years related work experience in accounting, finance, data analytics, data science, or related discipline.
