Job title: AccountantLocation: Syracuse, New YorkRate: $35-45/hr on W2!Job Description:Key Accountabilities• ???????Applies closing process standards and analysis of accounting close practices and transactions.• Assists with the accurate and timely recording and processing of transactions to support close and proper reporting to drive performance.• Analyze and reconcile general ledger account activity to ensure the ledger is correct and properly supported.• Assist in the preparation of various filings and information requests required by the state, FERC and other applicable authorities.• Support the implementation of continuous improvement and performance excellence activities, consistently achieving strong results.• Support the implementation of policies, internal controls, accounting standards and procedures to drive performanceQualifications:• 3-5 years of related experience• Transaction and Close process management• General Accounting• Reporting Financial Information• Technical Accounting• Utility industry accounting preferred• US GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley, SEC• Knowledge of general ledger platforms and accounting system experience• Able to assess accounting issues and recommend solutions• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines• Excellent written / oral communication skills and follow-up, including ability to present to Senior Leadership• Ability to work cross-functionally on finance processes• Proficient in MS Excel, Word and other MS Office applications• Exhibit high personal standards of ownership, accountability, commitment and integrity• Ability to establish a high level of confidence with personnel and external contacts• Good knowledge of Company policies, procedures and standards• Very good knowledge of federal, state and municipal regulations• Demonstrated strong leadership skills including the ability to make timely decisions and work autonomously• Proven excellent interpersonal and team-building skills including the ability to build and sustain productive collaborative relationships, motivate and communicate effectivelyPreferred:• CPA or CPA eligible• 3-5 years of related experienceEqual Opportunity Employer/Veterans/Disabled Benefit offerings include medical, dental, vision, term life insurance, short-term disability insurance, additional voluntary benefits, commuter benefits and 401K plan.
