The candidate will work on a project that aims to investigate robustness and metabolism of non-model yeasts (e.g., Yarrowia lipolytica) and engineer them as efficient and robust biocatalysts for biosynthesis of biofuels, biochemicals, and biomaterials from lignocellulosic biomass and plastics wastes. Although they work under general supervision of the faculty Laboratory Director, Laboratory Supervisors frequently make independent decisions regarding laboratory operations and management.
