Our comprehensive team provides quality health care services to patients within a collaborative environment with multiple specialties and overall comprehensive health system.Key Responsibilities:AdministrativeDevelop and maintain a high quality, successful bariatric program within the Hospital, including but not limited to:Coordinate the activity among the multiple services, e.g., behavioral health, dietary, etc., that will need to participate in order to establish a successful venture; Establish clinical guidelines, performance measures, and reporting systems that will assure clinical excellence, minimize risk, and demonstrate adherence to the highest quality standards;Participate fully in both the development and the implementation of efforts to market the bariatric service throughout the Rochester Regional Health catchment area;Oversee, supervise, advise, and/or train clinical and other support staff in their responsibilities and duties pertaining to the proper care and treatment of morbidly obese patients and the development of a high quality, patient-focused, financially viable bariatric surgery program;Collaborate with current bariatric surgeons to maintain the accreditation at Rochester General Hospital and assist in the application process that will result in Unity Hospital becoming a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence through the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery; and the American College of Surgery program - MBSAQIPParticipate in the Bariatric Committee;Identify and assist with implementation of opportunities for program growth and expansion;Participate on hospital and/or system committees as requested by the department of surgery and/or EVP.Clinical Engages in providing direct patient care on regularly scheduled basis including call coverage. Works with the other members of the Metabolic and Bariatric team to care for patients and develop a positive environment accentuating the team approach to patient care. Provides comprehensive medical care and supervision of patient as medically indicated onsite, in Hospital or at home. Coordinates diagnostic and treatment procedures and referral care. Instructs and monitors nursing, ancillary and support staff in proper patient care and management. Cooperates with Chief of Surgery and administrators in providing managed care where appropriate under prepaid, capitated or other health delivery programs. Cooperates with the Chief of the Surgery and administrators in coordinating medical activities to insure efficient, accessible and quality health care service. Serves as faculty for the residency program and, as appropriate, for medical, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, and Nursing students. Serves on the Peer Review Committee as needed. Participates in the formulation of standards of care and complies with clinical indicators. Cooperates with the Quality Assurance Coordinator in completing quality assurance activities and requirements. Complies with all hospital, local, state, and federal regulations. Behaves in mature, responsible and fair manner. Treats all patients and staff with dignity and respect. Maintains positive, encouraging and cooperative attitude. Takes initiative in identifying and accomplishing tasks which go beyond the normal scope of responsibility or any other tasks assigned by the Chief of Surgery. Participates in Age Specific Competency Training, within 12 month period of time and demonstrates the ability to obtain information and assess patient/customer needs in Physician's medical specialty. Understands the range of treatment and or services needed by the different age groups served in Physician's medical specialty.
