Outreach Program Manager - Division of Trauma, Burn, Surgical Critical Care and Emergency General Surgery

The Trauma Outreach Manager (TOM) is a Registered Nurse with an expertise in the management of the trauma patient and trauma systems. The TOM reports directly to the Nurse Director, Trauma and Burn Program. This position serves as a central point of reference for information about all patients transferred into our program from the field as well as outside facilities. This individual will guide the development of administrative and clinical aspects of the program as it relates to our relationships with EMS agencies and outside facilities. S/he will be directing and/or collaborating with a diverse range of internal and external contacts, ranging from pre-hospital providers, patients/families, care improvement consultants, nurses, surgeons, and other care providers and multidisciplinary specialists, as well as medical directors. The scope of the position includes knowledge of: Commonwealth of MA EMS trauma entry and transport guidelines, complex trauma and burn patients, organization and integration of individual hospitals into the regional and state trauma system and quality and safety programs. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Indicate key areas of responsibility, major job duties, special projects and key objectives for this position. This person is responsible for scheduling appointments, using a scheduling system for support, and directing questions to the designated coordinator when needed. - Work as part of a team of 4 in scheduling new patient appointments according to specialty, condition, and preference.- Calls may consist of a variety of questions and scheduling factors including the patient's preferred location, surgeon, day and time, or procedure type. For more complex situations, the scheduler must partner with the patient to find the best option for their care. - All employees are expected to always put the patient first. - Verifies demographics, insurance and reason for appointment/laterality at time of the appointment.- Refers patients to Patient Service Center (PSC) or departmental designee as warranted.- Work collaboratively with the administrative team to assist with appointment slots when there is limited availability.- Use the Automated Call Distribution (ACD) phone system to field calls from patients in an expedient and professional manner to schedule new appointments. This system will be used for all calls taken by the team. - Request records when needed prior to new patient appointment date.- Use dedicated 'admin' time throughout the day to handle items such as requesting records, communicating to the team, following up on emails, and attending regular team meetings and trainings.- The individual can expect to work onsite for 1 month prior to moving to a hybrid work schedule (2-3 days in office). We have a great opportunity for an animal surgeonto join our Cardiovascular Physiology Core team in Brigham and Women's Hospital. This role provides sophisticated surgical and physiology expertise to client studies, to ensure successful preclinical study outcomes. This role requires a strong command of animal (rodent) anatomy, general animal welfare, anesthetic management, pre-op and post-operative care associated with survival and no survival surgery. The right candidate should also have familiarity with imaging equipment such as ultrasound and MRI. The surgeon should be able to support the Core team as needed for general operations and be able to perform all relevant surgical and other technician duties assigned.Our work in developing new therapeutics and establishing novel animal surgical and non invasive models has had an incredible impact across academia and industry over the past decade. Core skillsPerforming routine cardiac surgical procedures like thoracotomy, myocardial infarction, ischemia reperfusion, aortic constriction in rodents.Performing ex vivo work including heart perfusion and Langendorff.
