Essential Functions These are the job duties required of the position.Essential FunctionsAssists with the oversight of the operation of the Alabama Math, Science, and Technology Initiative (AMSTI) materials center and warehouse facility.Ensures that the AIMS data for the region is accurate and up to date.May supervise materials specialists assigned to the materials center.Assists in providing the materials, supplies, and equipment to AMSTI trained teachers as specified by AMSTI-ALSDE (Alabama State Department of Education).Trains workers on correct refurbishment procedures.Constructs and refurbishes math and science teaching kits.Assists in coordinating the purchasing, inventorying, scheduling, and distribution of science and mathematics modules and materials.Communicates effectively with teachers about their materials usage and professional learning based on information provided by AMSTI and AMSTI-ASIM (Alabama Science in Motion) staff.Assists in organizing the materials center to ensure efficient use of space and storage of materials.Assists with providing reports to the AMSTI site director or AMSTI-ALSDE regarding the teacher and materials database, material costs, distribution schedules, employee assignments, and labor hours, as requested.Assists AMSTI staff with preparation for programs and presentations and with the operation of the materials center.Assists with maintaining a safe working environment.Attends all required professional learning activities and staff meetings conducted by AMSTI-ALSDE unless AMSTI-ALSDE grants prior approval for absence.Perform other duties as assigned by the materials manager, AMSTI site director, AMSTI State Materials Director, or AMSTI-ALSDE.Regular and prompt attendance.Ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required.Related duties as required. We are seeking a qualified and motivated individual, who has research and teaching experience in educational and cognitive neuroscience, educational psychology, and learning sciences.The Educational Neuroscience Initiative at the University of Alabama involves an Educational Neuroscience PhD Concentration and a BSc Program (http://edneuro.ua.edu), under the Educational Psychology Program. The PhD concentration and the undergraduate program offer courses in research methods (e.g., electrophysiology, neuroimaging) and topics (e.g., reading, language, mathematics, and moral development) in cognitive and educational neuroscience.Our program has a hands-on approach to training, with abundant research opportunities for both undergraduate and graduate students.
