Basic Purpose: The accountability of this position is for the continuation of excellent customer relations between TMW and customers of new and used equipment by providing prompt and efficient service as authorized by customer and as assigned by the Service Supervisor.Nature and Scope: This position reports to the Service Supervisor from whom work assignments are received. Parts are requisitioned and reports are submitted through that office. Since some of the service calls are as a result of incumbent's contacts or solicitations, the Field Service Mechanic is required to keep his supervisor informed of his activities and any change in his schedule. Servicemen are usually assigned to a territory, but are called upon to assist in other areas as required. Some may not be attached, but "float" on special assignments or to fill in as needed.This "Service after Sales" contact helps to enhance company image and reputation in the field and directly affects repeat sales. Position OverviewPDW seeks a skilled Quality Engineer to join our team, contributing to the next wave of system and tool development in support of our manufacturing operation. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in both QC (Quality Control) and QA (Quality Assurance). In QC, the Quality Engineer will have the opportunity to provide guidance, structure, and maintenance of PDW's QMS (Quality Management System). Working in QA, the Quality Engineer will ensure best quality practices and processes are being followed by the production plant. In the end, the ideal candidate will have the ability to help drive and enable quality excellence across the organization. Core ResponsibilitiesThe ideal candidate will thrive in an innovative, fast-paced, and agile environment. This requires daily interactions with production and interdisciplinary personnel, immediate problem response to issues on the fly, and delivery of robust Quality systems.Investigation and cause determination of workmanship and/or material/assemblies non-conformances; advise and alert production management and internal/external suppliers as to potential corrective measures historic (daily, monthly, annual) production data to be analyzed and reviewed for potential trends. Reviewing of Quality events for action determination within the scope of the organization. Build Statistical Quality reports for customers and management as requested. Conduct Internal Audits and train other internal auditors. Create technical documentation including, but not limited to quality control checklists for inspection support. Utilize the PDW ERP system as needed to support quality roles including incoming inspection. Supervision and documentation of PPAP (Pre-Production Approval Process) and FAS (First Article Sample) processes. Where necessary, interface with customers and suppliers as a QA company representative. Track suppliers' and third-party sub-contractor companies' Quality records and improvement plans. Approve conforming products and reject defective with production line stoppage authority. Understand specific customer needs and requirements, where directed to develop supporting QC processes. Devise and review Quality specifications for products or processes concurrently with design engineering. Set Quality requirements for raw materials or intermediate products for suppliers and monitor their compliance through receiving inspectors and other personnel. Supervise inspectors, technicians, and other staff and provide guidance and feedback. Oversee all product development procedures to identify quality standards and specifications. Keep accurate documentation and perform statistical analysis including presentations for executive management. Be a contributing team member of the Continuous Improvement efforts. Other duties as assigned. QualificationsRequired:Bachelors in relevant field (experience may qualify). Three to five years of work experience in technology and manufacturing is preferred. ISO Auditor Certification desired. Extensive use of typical Quality tools such as Fishbone, 5 Whys, FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), Process Mapping, and others Extensive electro-mechanical product experience desired. Preferred:Proven experience as a Quality Engineer with extensive experience in developing, maintaining, and working within a QMS in a certified plant (ISO9001 or AS9100). Conscientious, responsible, with a sense of urgency. Outstanding communication, organizational, and leadership skills. Proficient in MS Office and other tools such as Visio or other graphic-generating programs. Excellent math abilities and working knowledge of data analysis/statistical methods. Certification of Quality Control is a strong advantage (ISO 9000, AS9100, etc.,). **Substation Designer/Engineer** **_Southern Company Services Technical Shared Services – Substation Engineering_** _Opening located in Birmingham, AL_ This posting is to fill a full time Physical Designer/Engineer position within our Substation Physical Design group. The Designer/Engineer can be filled as an exempt level 3-6, based on background experience and education of the successful candidate. **JOB DESCRIPTION** This position is responsible for the design of Southern Company’s Transmission and Distribution Substations. The Designer/Engineer will produce engineering drawings, specifications, and material requirements for substation projects with emphasis on safety, quality, scheduling, and costs. The successful candidate will be required to travel (approximately 25%) and the ability to work successfully in a remote/virtual environment with access to internet service. This position will be located in Birmingham, AL at the Energy Center. Relocation assistance may be provided if the successful candidate does not currently live within a reasonable commute distance. **MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:** + Prepare high quality design packages needed to construct (new or modify existing) substations using CAD-based tools, based on Southern Company design standards. + Design the physical aspects of substations, including but not limited to, Foundation Layouts, Grounding Layouts, Conduit Layouts, Control House Layouts, Section Drawings, Electrical Bus Design, etc. Specify, order, and provide approval drawings for non-stock materials, as well as inventorying stock materials and shop fabricated materials for substation design packages. Transmit drawing packages and supporting specifications into SCST Vault using the Physical Substation Transmittal Packages Manual. + Make SAFETY our number one priority using a “Safety First” mentality and leading by example. + Coordinate and communicate with other design disciplines associated with the Substation Physical Design project. + Provide Quality Assurance reviews as required, technical trainings and provide developmental feedback to internal designer/engineers + Interact with manufacturers, vendors, and Southern Company committee members to resolve equipment and material issues. + Provide support to Substation Construction, Field Services, Project Management and Substation Maintenance. + Perform site visits for projects, including pre-construction meetings, during construction and post-construction.
