Assists with external communications.Essential Functions The Department of Sports Medicine and Nutrition is seeking an experienced and qualified Program Manager to work in a dynamic and highly operational environment with particular expertise in managing Department of Defense focused research. The Program Manager will be expected to work across multiple studies, which will include interfacing with collaborators, stakeholders, and as well as training and managing research assistant staff. The following skills are required to be considered for this position:Excellent communication, both oral and writtenProficiency with basic word processing, data management, and statistical software programsFamiliarity with sports medicine and injury prevention researchAble to coordinate and oversee large, multifaceted research effortsFamiliarity with IRB submissions and clinical researchIndependently able to contribute to scientific writing, including but not limited to assisting with grant writing, manuscript development and preparation, and development and execution of presentations showcasing current research Additional capabilities in the following areas are encouraged:Proficiency in using lab equipment such as metabolic cart for maximal exercise and resting metabolic testing, BodPod for body compositionBackground in personal training The Program Manager will serve as a contributing member of the multidisciplinary research team and will have the following responsibilities:Subject recruitment, management, and schedulingOverall study management including frequent communication with study staff, interdisciplinary teams outside of the research facility, and the Institutional Review Board as neededEnsuring adherence to IRB protocol and providing regulatory and administrative oversightIndependently engage in academic/intellectual endeavors aligned with the research objectivesSupport study team members in creation of scholarly products Hours may vary depending on research needs and some travel may be expected Physical Effort Physical effort is sometimes required including long periods of standing, the ability to lift 30lbs unassisted, and human performance data collection involving kneeling, reaching, twisting, and lifting.
