Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electrical Engineer with a strong background in light-wave telecommunications and high voltage systems. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of technical experience with a track record of increasing levels of responsibility. Job Description Programming and troubleshooting of PLC and HMI programs using Rockwell RSLogix/Studio 5000, Rockwell PLC's 500 and Safety PLC's. Also, the high-speed motion, and positional controls using VFD's, DC, and Servos drives. Defining system architecture, component selection of PLCs, HMIs, Sensors (optical, proximity, ultrasonic), VFD & Servo drives and safety hardware. Position Overview Optical Transmission System Test Engineer to define, plan, and execute test programs in support of the development and delivery of undersea optical transmission systems. The person will run transmission experiments over prototypes of long-haul fiber optic systems for validation and evaluation purposes. This work will also involve experimental programs to qualify designs and design processes for new systems and upgrades to installed fiber-optic systems. All aspects of optical communications will need to be covered in such work. Some travel will be required for field work. Key technologies driving the measurement programs are DWDM transmission, coherent detection transmission at rates above 100 Gb/s, optical amplifiers, nonlinear optical transmission in fibers, optical polarization effects, and OADM systems. Responsibilities Knowledge requied in optical transmission testing and optical component characterization, including optical gain and loss, OSNR, PMD, PDL, dispersion, nonlinear processes such as four-wave mixing, Raman gain, Brillouin scattering, BER, OSNR, eye diagrams, and related measurements. Candidate must be able to develop and use computer-aided test processes, and be able to analyze the results of his/her measurements. Candidate must be able to define test proposals and negotiate changes with the data customer, and write clear reports of the work done. Strong laboratory, analytic, and communication skills are preferred, and the candidate must be able to work both as a team leader or a contributing member of a team. Qualifications M. Sc. or Ph. D. in Physics or similar field preferred. A Bachelor of Science (BS) degree combined with previous work experience will also be considered. Strong communications and presentations skills required. Position Overview The Department of System Design and Product Management is looking for a software engineer to assist in developing and managing software simulations tools used to design high-capacity undersea fiber-optic networks. This person will work as part of the team of optical designers and project engineers responsible for delivery of undersea optical communication systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for introducing enhancements to the set of in-house software tools used for fiber-optics network design, optimization, evaluation, and implementation. This person will report directly to the Senior Manager of System Design and Product Management that is part of the Customer Solutions Organization within SubCom, and will collaborate with people from Research and Development, Sales, Project Management, Marine Operations and Manufacturing. The job offers opportunities for exploratory work on new technologies as well as design and implementation of new systems. Responsibilities Create new and update existent software tools. Assist engineers in troubleshooting code that incorporates numerical methods to simulate various physical effects. Update features of GUI based on feedback from the users. Manage software development cycle from collecting and documenting Modification Requests to working with senior engineers to incorporate changes, to preparing new releases, running testcases and publishing release notes. Perform updates to multiple software development packages via GitLab. Administer Linux server where the source code resides. Collaborate with software developers in other organizations within SubCom to access data in various databases and facilitate data flow with other software packages. Job Description In addition, the role of a Quality Engineer is also to ensure Continuous Process Improvement and maximize customer satisfaction for internal and external customers. This will involve collecting, analyzing, and reporting KPI data for our manufacturing processes. Of key importance is the ability to quickly identify and correct negative trends. This position will work closely and collectively with Engineering, Operations, Lean Operating Systems, Project Management, R&D, and Corporate Quality to achieve these goals. This is a hands-on position requiring equal time both in the office and on the factory floor. The position may require travel approximately 10% of the time. Responsibilities and Duties: Responsible for defining and control of the vendor qualification process. Continuous Improvement - Promote and Drive "Zero Defect" mentality within Manufacturing Operations with the use of Lean, Six-Sigma, Mistake Proofing, Measurement System Analysis, and Statistical Process control (SPC). Lead problem solving activities using a structured, disciplined approach. Customer collaboration / interface Periodic audits of Customer quality performance. Initiate and monitor Supplier Corrective Actions, escalate as necessary Supplier collaboration to help facilitate changes to supplier processes/products in a way that minimizes risk and impact to the company and its customers. Introduce new and revised components into production. Support the component pedigree process. Support Design and Reliability in the supplier searches and selections. Initiate and support cost-reduction initiatives through design modifications and/or supplier process improvements. Primary point of contact for supplier and component technical issues. Perform data analysis and compile reports on component issues and status. Support MRB, RFD, FMA and corrective-action processes as they apply to components. Primary point of contact for supplier activities. Perform, orchestrate or support supplier audits and line reviews. Participate in design, specification and drawing review processes. Participate in supplier evaluations and rating process. Perform incoming inspection on electro optic products manufacturing products for example, PCB, CBA, electronics components, etc. Establish SPC controls as required and support data analysis (Cpk analysis) with Product Engineering Support company and facility Environmental Safety and Health (ES&H) policies and programs by: supporting and meeting annual and long-term ES&H objectives including ES&H principles in shop procedures, equipment purchases, and equipment/product design attending appropriate ES&H training providing information for accident and incident investigations and assisting in implementation of corrective actions Qualifications: Bachelor's (or higher) degree or related experience in manufacturing, mechanical, optical or electrical engineering. 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment required. Demonstrated expertise in quality tools, practices and procedures. Fully conversant with QMS principals, certified as a quality Auditor is preferred. Experience in auditing both internal processes/systems as well as auditing of suppliers. Working knowledge of concepts of probability and statistics as well as aide in updating/establishing SPC studies. Excellent communication and coaching skills at all levels from the shop floor to top management. Proficiency and demonstrated ability to make independent, informed decisions.
