Provide tactical support for these inquiries when required or redirect to other internal resources.About the teamFor context, an “idle site” refers to a site, owned or leased, that is not occupied by Amazon nor under development.The Idle Asset Program was developed to: (1) provide oversight of the base building requirements of current idle sites; (2) manage the approval process of sites being proposed into idle status; (3) provide a single source of truth to communicate status of current idle sites; (4) notify Transactions of site status to develop a disposition strategy; and (5) provide oversight of the site decommissioning process to ensure the building is returned to the landlord in a condition adherent to lease obligations.Because these sites are not moving through the standard, linear lifecycle (deal closing, construction, launch), they pose unique risks to the company if not properly attended. Risks include deterioration of the physical property, attractive nuisance issues like encampments/vandalism, and regulatory violations. In order to prevent or mitigate these risks, and subsequent reputational damage, a formal process for identifying these idle sites and approving their mechanism for maintenance utilizing appropriate funding is required.
