This position is responsible for leading and managing the organization's fundraising and development efforts. The Director of Development will work closely with the Chief Development Officer to achieve VSL's fundraising goals and build long-term relationships with donors and partners. Primary Responsibilities: Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy that aligns with the organization's goals and objectives. Cultivate and maintain relationships with individual donors, foundations, corporations, and other potential funding sources. Oversee the research, identification, and solicitation of major gift prospects and donors. Manage the grant writing process, including researching grant opportunities, writing proposals, and ensuring compliance with grant requirements. Plan and execute fundraising events, campaigns, and initiatives to engage donors and raise funds. Develop and implement stewardship programs to nurture and maintain strong relationships with donors. Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to develop fundraising materials, donor communications, and public relations strategies. Monitor and report on fundraising progress, analyzing data to inform decision-making and strategy adjustments. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards related to fundraising and development. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with the development team to align grant-seeking efforts with the organization's fundraising strategy. Collaborate with the finance team to ensure grant budgets are integrated into the overall organizational budget. Communicate with funders, partners, and stakeholders to build and maintain strong relationships. Participate in cross-functional teams and meetings to ensure grant, program, and event activities are aligned with organizational priorities. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, Communications, or a related field. A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in fundraising and development, with a proven track record of achieving fundraising goals. Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. Experience with major gift fundraising, grant writing, and event planning. Knowledge of fundraising strategies, donor databases, and CRM systems.
