Job Description• The Survey Party Chief may be required as a representative of the company, to make decisions concerning construction layout, modifications based on plan revisions and other survey related issues.• Attend field meetings with clients, government officials, inspectors and other governing agencies• Assist in the supervision and monitoring of the construction personnel with regard to plan clarification and problem solvingJob Requirements• Must be proficient in all aspects of highway construction survey• May be required to make project decisions affecting the quality control of the survey data established for the project• Must be capable of self- supervision as may be required during the beginning phases of a project and throughout the project duration• Must be well versed with field note reduction, in-depth plan interpretation and highway construction computations• Must possess supervisory skills and a detailed working knowledge of standard field and office procedures• Must possess knowledge of the principles of the profession and various technical standards • Must be able to work independently as may be required during pre-construction investigations, construction and post construction surveys• Must be proficient in the use of GPS, Robotic and Roadway CADD software. • Must have working knowledge of how to operate, check, and perform basic field adjustments on rods, levels, tri-brachs, total stations, robotic total stations, data collectors, tripods, and GPS equipmentThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. Partners and coordinates daily/weekly scheduling with APAC management, plant personnel and crewmembers, as well as DOT inspectors to obtain necessary samples and mix designs.Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions) Perform (Asphalt Quality Control Test) in lab or on roadway, compile test data and have an understanding of test data in order to make plant or roadway adjustments Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task Properly follow all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment Attendance required according to company attendance policy to ensure crew is able to operate at normal efficiency level Attitude/cooperation: always maintaining courteous and professional manner with co-workers, customers and public. Qualifications Education/Experience High school graduate or equivalent preferred, with the ability to interpret and apply verbal and/or written instructions in English Work Requirements Ability to follow specifications set by SCDOT or GADOT Ability to work as a team member and alone Must be self-motivated Ability to work with chemicals Ability to be flexible with last minute schedule changes, location changes, time of shift changes. Overtime work required. Out of town/county/or state work may be required Ability to adhere to PPE (personal protective equipment) policy and maintain individual PPE in a functional condition as supplied by company Must have valid driver's license and pass APAC Driver Qualifications Standard in order to operate Company vehicles. Mathematical skills required and must be able to calculate percentages and precise measurements.
