Technicians prepare wood, fiberglass, and metal surfaces for bottom painting. Paints hull of vessels utilizing brushes, spray guns and rollers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Surface preparation to include stripping, scuffing, sanding, masking and priming surfaces Apply coats of paint, epoxy or lacquer, as appropriate, to protect surfaces, trimmings and fixtures of boats Utilize hand and power tools including but not limited to; scraper, wire brush, needle gun, grinder, pneumatic chipper, basic tools, sandpaper, etc. Knowledge of the requirements for paint prepping and sealing and the products utilized Interact with customers and respond to customer questions as they relate to paint applications Meet environmental requirements and best marina practices in acquisition, application, removal and disposal of paint, paint waste or residuals in accordance with OSHA requirements and federal and state laws Availability to work overtime in order to meet deadlines Other duties as assigned by Manager Safety and Environmental Responsibilities Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related training.
