Staff Accountant Salary in San Antonio, TX

Duration: 12 months (with possible extention)Employment Type: W-2Job Description:The Sales Tax Accountant as part of the Sales and Use Tax Group (Indirect Tax Team), reporting to Compliance Lead, will be responsible for completing return filings, ensuring compliance within established administrative policies, state regulations and acceptable accounting practices.Responsibilities:• Compile source data for sales/use tax and property tax returns and reconcile to the general ledger for all legal entities (50 states and Canada). • Review compliance payments and reconcile to the payable accounts, ensuring all liabilities are paid accurately. • Complete compliance return filings include business licenses, gross receipts tax, personal property tax, Puerto Rico withholding, and sales/use tax returns. • Ensure financial reports are prepared and paid accurately and timely to avoid penalties. • Review sales/use tax and property tax returns completed by third parties for accuracy and completeness. • Ensure compliance within established administrative policies, state regulations and acceptable accounting practices. • Assist with sales tax audit requests and appeals, working with business units, customers, third party consultants and state auditors. • Pull and request exemption certificates as needed (as per specific state requirements). • Perform tax research and document tax position. • Provide excellent customer service via communication with internal and external customers. (Respond to sales tax (GMB) emails within 48 hours) • Identify and implement process improvements in the Indirect Tax department. • Create and continually update desktop procedures for assigned tasks. • Ability to meet internal and external deadlines in an ever-changing, fast paced environment. .Experience, Education, Knowledge, Skills And Abilities:• Min Bachelors' degree in Accounting and/or Finance or related field • Min 3 years' experience in accounting • min 1 year work experience in Sales and Use Tax in various states • Knowledge of SOX controls & compliance and an understanding of GAAP Accounting • Business Intelligence/Business Warehouse expertise • Strong Microsoft Excel & Word skills (VLookUp, Pivot Tables, Charts) • Strong digital literacy: Excel ERP (SAP/JDE), Tax Software (Onesourcech/Sabrix/Vertex)About US Tech Solutions:US Tech Solutions is a global staff augmentation firm providing a wide range of talent on-demand and total workforce solutions.
