As an On-Call Registered Nurse (RN) you'll be directly responsible for provide nursing care to the children in the Subacute program and other children served as arranged by the treating psychiatrist and the program director. Oversee ESIs and assist with OIS physical interventions as needed during crisis situations. Manage childrens medications by maintaining safe medication administration practices. Prepare all discharge medication prescriptions and obtain psychiatrist signature prior to childs discharge. Provide discharge medication instructions to clients families/caregivers upon discharge to home. Proficiently complete phlebotomy services. Complete medication cart audits per policy. Licensed Practical Nurse (Children's Mental Health)

We're seeking a night-shift Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide nursing care to children and adolescents served in our Crisis Psychiatric Care (subacute) facility, routine healthcare including pain management, vital signs and lab sample collection. You will also assist in completing the admission process by gathering medical information, obtaining and processing medication and admission orders from the psychiatrist and assisting children with all other entry needs. Our LPNs provide basic triage and emergency care including assessment and documentation of injuries. Also, you'll manage children's medications, complete phlebotomy services, and assess each child for injuries by completing and documenting a nursing assessment for each child involved in an Emergency Safety Intervention. Our Children's Psychiatric Crisis (Subacute) program offers short-time, safe, and secure residential placement for children and teens who are experiencing a mental health crisis. Services focus on mental health stabilization, psychiatric evaluation, and transitional planning with an average length of stay around three weeks. Common diagnoses include major depression, suicide ideation, and anxiety. Provide basic triage and emergency care including assessment and documentation of treatment of injuries (i.e. falls, scratches, sprains, bites, wounds and other injuries/illnesses). Appropriately refer to nurse practitioner and/or physician when indicated. Obtain, write, and process all medication orders as directed by the psychiatrist and/or nurse practitioner including documentation accurately. Manage children's medications by procuring, creating, and maintaining safe medication administration practices. Act as the liaison between pharmacy and health care practitioners. Implement and follow the medication administration protocol. Complete medication cart audits per policy. Complete chart audits per policy for required documentation. Proficiently complete phlebotomy services. Assess each child for injuries by completing and documenting a nursing assessment for each child involved in an Emergency Safety Intervention (ESI). Conduct a personal search of all children upon entry to Subacute to assess for medical problems, signs of abuse, and to ensure that the child is not bringing contraband into the program. Prepare all discharge medication prescriptions and obtain psychiatrist signature prior to child's discharge. Assist line staff by supervising the children on the units to maintain milieu safety by participating as a recreation leader and assist with any other unit activities as needed. Provide health education regarding sleep hygiene to clients presenting with insomnia. Act as a medical/nursing resource to the children and families served and provide health education as needed.
