My client is a well-established "Engineer To Order" manufacturer located in the Buffalo, NY area and has been in business for over 90 years. They sell to the commercial and the defense markets.This is a unique opportunity for that person with purchasing, quality assurance and machine shop experiences to blend those skill sets into this role.You will be a member of the Operations group with responsibilities focused on improving customer lead times via outsourced parts and services. Responsible for sourcing, qualification, delivery and quality of new and existing suppliers mainly dealing with machined parts and castings to manufacture our equipment.The expectation will be for the candidate to walk into a machine shop and immediately be familiar with the scope of current machines and the capabilities of them. This, coupled with the knowledge of current internal constraints with regards to metal castings and machined parts, will make for an meaningful conversation as you navigate whether or not to consider that vendor as an option for the company to consider outsourcing to.Ideal candidate would have worked in an ETO environment before and gained the knowledge of"how things go together".
