The MECCC specifically seeks to advance this model of health equity and empowerment through community and patient needs assessments, cancer screening and educational outreach, psychosocial services, research literacy, and partnership with community leaders and organizations. Working under the COE Bronx Oncology Living Daily (BOLD) Program, a Psychosocial Oncology Initiative, and with Montefiore’s clinical and community programs and partners, the Project Manager will help manage multiple community outreach and inreach efforts towards increasing community partnership, patient engagement, and Bronx resident participation in cancer screening, psychosocial care, clinical trials, and cancer center events/committees, as relevant. National CEDER is an expansive partnership consisting of 18 schools of public health, schools of medicine, and minority-serving institutions and ten regional and national community-based organizations reaching diverse African American, Latinx, Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, and American Indian/Alaska Native communities, geographic areas, and communities facing historical marginalization. The Healthy and Livable Bronx Partnership is a structural intervention to increase access to appropriately credentialed, reliable, and affordable childcare for working age adults who head families who live in public housing complexes throughout New York City’s Bronx County. We are looking for a Study Coordinator who is familiar with Bronx neighborhoods and has an interest in supporting programmatic activities in achieving the goals of the studies.ResponsibilitiesStudy Coordinator responsibilities for the position: Work with the study teams to update study protocols and protocol amendments as needed, including the development of new measures.Work with the PI to develop recruitment strategies and manage tracking database (for the NIH-funded project).Assist study teams in drafting reports, preparing conference abstracts, and presentations related to the projects. Support study teams to manage user requests, data collection, data cleaning and analysis, and regular audits for RCS Core services. Assist in the development of additional tracking and data collection efforts. Assist in facilitation of administrative and evaluation processes for study programs using standard performance measurements, continuous quality improvement principles and project management skills.Support the teams in helping Core leaders with preparation of grant proposals and collaboration (new and competing renewals as well as related and complementary initiatives).Assist the study teams in producing and distributing newsletters regarding the Core or project-specific activities. Other related duties as assigned.QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s Degree required in health-related field.Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.Experience in previous research or programmatic experience in public health or related field and experience working with similar populations preferred. Jacobs, Jr., Ph.D., will play a crucial role in managing his dynamic schedule and extensive research activities. Dr. Jacobs is a Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Einstein, a distinguished academic scientist and a member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences. His laboratory at Einstein is at the forefront of developing innovative strategies for the control and eradication of major infectious diseases such as tuberculosis (TB) and leprosy. His team of postdoctoral researchers, graduate students and technicians uses a broad range of approaches involving molecular genetics, biochemical, cellular and immunological methods. The lab's work includes a strong emphasis on studying mutants of Mycobacterium tuberculosis to understand drug resistance, bacterial persistence, virulence, and immune evasion, primarily using mouse models. A major objective is to improve the control and prevention of TB through development of modified live mycobacterial organisms for use as vaccines. Additionally, the lab is exploring a newly developed recombinant Herpes simplex virus vaccine that has shown high efficacy in mouse models and is now progressing toward clinical applications for prevention of herpes related disease in humans. Collaborative efforts with clinical labs in several global locations also focus on using engineered bacteriophages for Mtb diagnosis and drug susceptibility testing. The Project Coordinator will serve as the key personal assistant to Dr. Jacobs, and will work closely with him on a daily basis to assist him in managing his extensive research projects, collaborations, correspondence, travel and speaking engagements. The ideal candidate for this position will possess at least a Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) or higher in a scientific field, and demonstrate a passionate curiosity about science and infectious diseases. Strong organizational skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office software applications (Word, Outlook, Excel and Powerpoint) are required. Experience with writing and editing scientific manuscripts and grant applications is highly desirable, and familiarity with basic principles of DNA sequence analysis would be advantageous.
