The structural steel detailer will generate structural steel drawing packages and prepare steel erection plans based on structural engineer's designs. The structural steel detailer has an active role in achieving the design goal, scope, and solution for LJB's clients, on time and within budgetSTRUCTURAL STEEL DESIGNER MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Work with the project manager, engineer, and other team members to create shop and erection drawings by interpreting design documents from the structural engineer.Use SDS/2 software to efficiently create a 3D model and shop/erection drawings to be used by the steel fabricator and by the steel erector in the field.Draw details and sub-materials for fabrication. Coordinate job requirements with project managers and subcontractors.Assist in the development of design concepts and provide input on system design.Review drawings to ensure adherence to established company and industry specifications and standards, as well as perform routine drafting and technical tasks as required throughout the project duration. • Review design changes and recommend improvements to meet fall protection standards.Maintain quality standards, format special requirements, etc. as mandated by office production standards.Coordinate working drawing information with related outsources and consultants.Coordinate with project teams to ensure timely completion or design deliverables.STRUCTURAL STEEL DESIGNER MINOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Proficient in Bluebeam and Microsoft OfficeTakes the initiative to make sure tasks are completed on time. Including setting up project timelines and communicating the timelines to the team.Exhibits strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in team settings.Other duties as assigned.STRUCTURAL STEEL DESIGNER QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:Two-year technical degree in drafting design or engineering technologies preferred, or CAD Drafting Certificate with relevant work experience.Four+ years design experience using SDS/2 required (high level of proficiency required).Four+ years structural design experience using CAD Software required (Revit proficiency preferred).Technical training/work experience in Advance Steel & Revit desiredSTRUCTURAL STEEL DESIGNER KEY COMPETENCIES:Organize and prioritize your work schedule to complete tasks on timeCommunicate in-depth information to verify the design meets the client standardsCritical thinking & Problem solvingAttention to detailAbility to understand technical drawings and plansQuick and continuous learningResults drivenCollaborationLJB offers competitive compensation packages, which includes paid time off, a 401(k)/profit sharing plan, tuition reimbursement, flexibility, and mobility.
