Remote work locations will be fairly considered but may require increased travel.ResponsibilitiesProvide design input for various utilities systems typical for district energy, campus utility, combined heat and power, or other industrial facilities with specific experience in the following: steam heating, hot water, and chilled water systems, thermal distribution systems, distribution tunnels, and the associated interface with end users. Perform early project design work such as conceptual studies, process flow diagram development, mass/energy balances, preliminary equipment sizing and selection, and general facility layout/arrangement. Generate and check design deliverables such as PFD's, P&ID's, datasheets, and vendor shop drawings in accordance with industry codes and standards, contract requirements, and company standards. Prepare equipment specifications and detailed technical bid analyses for typical district energy, campus utility, or combined heat and power equipment including but not limited to boilers, chillers, turbines, pumps, valves, and other equipment typical for utilities systems. Support the construction team including representing the design team on-site, answering RFI's, providing creative design solutions, etc. Coordinate, communicate, and oversee all aspects of the project's utilities systems design with other design partners (both internal and external) including construction partners, equipment suppliers, and other engineers and designers. Train, mentor, and advise peers and support staff on proper application of district energy, campus utility, and combined heat and power industry standards and best practices. Provide key input and oversight for all district energy, campus utility, and combined heat and power scopes throughout project development, estimating, project execution, and startup/commissioning.QualificationsBachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent engineering program from an ABET accredited four-year university. A broad understanding of district energy, campus utility, and combined heat and power technologies and the market overall. Experience with thermal distribution system design associated with district energy, campus utility, and combined heat and power facilities. A minimum of 7 years of industry related engineering experience. Professional Engineer (P.E.) preferred.
