Overview:
The Steelastic Company, LLC was founded in 1970 by Sterling W. Alderfer, a prominent inventor and entrepreneur well known in the tire manufacturing community. Throughout the 1970's and 1980's Steelastic grew and became a key supplier and innovator in the global tire industry. In the early 1990's Steelastic continued to grow and had acquired several other businesses. Within a short period of time world events caused the company to separate into four businesses, one being The Steelastic Company. In April of 1992 Steelastic was purchased by The Heico Companies, LLC, a Chicago based corporation. Within Heico's business structure Steelastic was strategically placed under the Pettibone Group of diversified manufacturing companies. Subsequently Bartell Machinery Systems, LLC and RMS Equipment, LLC were also purchased by Heico. Together, along with Steelastic, the three companies formed the Pettibone Tire Equipment Group.
