Overview:

Cone Health is a multi-hospital system with a range of outpatient services designed to provide care for Piedmont residents throughout all stages of their lives. Residents of our primary service area of Guilford, Randolph, Rockingham and Alamance counties and the city of Kernersville depend on us for convenient, affordable and compassionate care - care delivered regardless of a patient’s ability to pay. More than 8,200 employees work throughout the Network of Exceptional Care to improve the health and well-being of our patients and our region. Together, we offer a seamless continuum of lifesaving and life-enhancing care. From high-risk pregnancy to delicate neonatal care to aggressive cancer care, from heart bypass surgery and stroke rehabilitation to geriatric care, we treat patients close to their homes and families. And as a teaching facility for internal medicine, family practice, obstetrics, gynecology and pediatrics, Cone Health gives patients access to the latest developments in medical care from their first moments of life through later years.

Culture:

Cone Health will be a national leader in delivering measurably superior healthcare.

History:

From its beginnings in 1911 as a trust established by Bertha Lindau Cone, Cone Health has grown into one of the premier healthcare institutions in North Carolina. Today, Moses Cone Health System consists of five hospitals, LeBauer HealthCare, Penn Nursing Center and numerous free-standing outpatient facilities, including Cone Health MedCenter-High Point and Moses Cone MedCenter-Kernersville. Cone Health is a member of The HealthCare Alliance. Cone Health is a not-for-profit health system serving people in Guilford, Rockingham, Alamance and Randolph counties as well as the city of Kernersville. In 2007, Moses Cone Health System provided $90 million in uncompensated care. Based at The Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, the Moses Cone Heart and Vascular Center enjoys a national reputation. In fiscal year 2007, it was the fourth busiest hospital in North Carolina when it comes to heart catheterizations. Through its affiliation with LeBauer Cardiovascular Research Foundation, doctors explore the latest treatments for heart disease. Research findings are published in such prestigious publications as the New England Journal of Medicine. The Cone Health Cancer Center, located on the campus of Wesley Long Community Hospital , holds the designation of Community Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Center and, through its affiliation with Southeastern Cancer Control Consortium, provides patients with the newest treatments. The Women’s Hospital of Greensboro is home to one of the area's most experienced neonatal intensive care teams. The hospital's level II and III unit has been providing care to critically ill newborns for nearly 25 years. The hospital also houses the nationally accredited Breast and Ultrasound Imaging Center. Depression, addiction and other psychiatric problems demand prompt and confidential attention. Patients get that at Cone Health Behavioral Health Hospital. The Behavioral Health Hospital is the only place in its service area where troubled children and teens can get 24-hour care. In July 2001, Annie Penn Hospital in Reidsville became part of Cone Health. Annie Penn Hospital was established in 1930. It has 50 active members on its medical staff. The hospital is licensed at 110 acute care beds and provides care for the people of Reidsville and the surrounding area.
