Die Maintenance Technician - Second Shift

We are actively recruiting for a Die Maintenance Technician at our Schaumburg, IL plant location of Tekni-Plex.  Our location sells billions of punched rubber and plastic gaskets annually that are used in dispensing food/beverage, pharmaceutical, personal care, industrial and household products. The ideal candidate would be available 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM.  This position entails repairing and sharpening our production dies for service. This includes the repairs of a wide variety of dies, jigs, gauges, fixtures, to close tolerances.  Must be able to troubleshoot, diagnose and perform moderate to complex repairs on dies.  Must have thorough knowledge of functions and operations of all processes and associated support equipment in the Tool Room. Position Responsibilities: Inspect die set and tooling to ensure that they remain compliant with specifications to reduce any malfunctions and associated loss of production. Under supervised guidance, interpret component drawings; produce part to print tolerances; maintain dies, die components and tooling; install and adjust die and tooling as necessary. Complete all required paperwork, quality records, documents, etc. Analyzes operating tool problems both in the Tool Room and on the production floor. Conduct test runs with completed tools or dies to ensure that parts meet specifications; make adjustments as necessary. Fit and assemble parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools, using machine tools and hand tools. Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators. Responsible for the accuracy of Tool Room inspection equipment such as pin gauges, surface plates, etc. Coordinate shift activities with those of other shifts to insure proper flow of information   Qualifications, Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED equivalent. A one-year certificate from college or technical school a plus Knowledge of machines and tools including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
