Job InformationThe Engineering Technician will support the prototyping process through manufacturing of prototype components, procurement and inventory management of production and vendor components, assembly, rework, repair, and maintenance of equipment, quality verification, & documentation of machine history. Duties may include one or more of the following areas. General maintenance of lab, equipment and prototype fleet, machining, fabrication, welding, inventory management, and quality control.Role & ResponsibilitySpecific Duties:Develop/execute machining processes utilizing both CNC and manual equipment.Utilize CAM software to assist with machine programming.Ability to write programs for CNC controls.Develop/build/utilize unique fixtures/ setups.Working knowledge of GD&T.Knowledge of materials and ability to provide guidance on material selection. General Duties:Study specifications/plan sequence of operationsUtilize CAD software to view designsUtilize software to maintain inventoryDevelop cross-functionality within the shopPerform maintenance/repairs on facilities/equipment as needed.Interpret prints to ensure parts/machines meet specifications.Order supplies and ship partsKeep the work area clean and safePerform other duties as assigned. Assembly/Rework/Test Duties:Perform technical repairs and/or troubleshooting across product lines.Knowledge of electrical/hydraulic components/functionality.Assist with instrumentation installation for testing.Job RequirementTechnical - Associates Degree; Allow EquivalentProficient in at least one of the specific job functions listed.Strong applied mechanical skills and a willingness to use them.Manufacturing or Product Development experience preferred.A valid driver's license is required.Physical Demands: The overall level of work is defined as heavy duty. Responsible for compiling data, generating reports, and developing tools to allow easy use and understanding of information that is used to improve quality and reduce cost. This role executes elements of the Quality Engineering function.Role & ResponsibilityQuality Lab Knowledgeable in the technology and systems used in the quality lab to validate conformance to specifications. Understanding of prints, specifications, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing best practices. Able to learn programming of measurement equipment. Understands requirements for calibrated equipment. Understanding of Tooling function and calibrationInspection Execution Work with quality engineering, design and manufacturing engineering to determine if product or component meets specifications. Complete inspections and provide summarized results that are easy to understand. When parts are not in compliance, investigate and recommend modifications to parts or processes which assure compliance. Review and recommend modifications to preliminary engineering designs for purpose of quality and cost.Finished Goods Audits Execute audits of finished goods with supporting documentation to effectively communicate part/process evaluations to appropriate departments in design, manufacturing, purchasing or service.Quality Analytics Participate in vendor reviews, audits and certification. Be aware of trends and developments in product design and manufacturing processes that can be used to impact quality and cost. Participate in the planning and application of these trends and developments.Red Tag Execution Participate in the identification, evaluation, communication, and disposition of non-conforming components or product. Recommend and implement improved process controls where appropriate. Investigate manufacturing problems, measure parts and make recommendations to resolve and/or correct such problems.Job Requirement High School Diploma/Equivalent Extensive knowledge of MS Excel Working knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, and Project.
