It's possible!Onsite from the Reno, NV plantAs a member of the North American Central Engineering Group this role will be develop new processes and improves existing process for handling and machining fiber cement products. This person must have extensive working knowledge of design, function, specification and installation of large-scale machining, molding, conveying equipment in a heavy manufacturing environment.The ideal person should have 2 -5 years of experience in the machining/ milling field as well as understanding of advance material machining processes.To be effective in this role this individual must have hands on engineering experience with identifying, trialing, specifying, and installing molding equipment, troubleshooting high throughput sanding and machining processes, and expertise in large scale dust handling methods.This role will be based in Reno, NV. Projects will occur across all US operating plants and therefore require up to 50% travel.What You'll Do: Scale up of process design as required to meet production need including sizing process equipment. Work cross functionally on new product teams - Investigates, recommends, and implements new techniques, processes, and tool designs that enable new products. Provides technical support and expertise during design, install, start-up, and preliminary production runs of new processes. Possesses Strong knowledge of high-volume sanding, shaping & molding process equipment. Capable to troubleshoot problems with existing molding and sanding equipment that improves quality, yield, or efficiency. Develops specifications around tooling for milling and sanding equipment Develops specifications and purchases sanding/molding equipment and systems on new construction projects, including sizing equipment, vendor selection, equipment arrangement and integration into plant operations. Develop specifications and purchase automation components to align with company standards and best practices, including PLC system hardware, sensors, machine safety equipment, drives and motor controllers, field instruments, control valves, and HMI software & hardware Procurement of quotations for equipment and installation, preparation of overall project estimate, implementation schedule, and Capital Expenditure Request for submission to senior leadership.The position responsibilities outlined above are in no way to be construed as all encompassing. Other duties, responsibilities, and qualifications may be required and/or assigned as necessary.What You'll Bring: Provide leadership in a manufacturing environment with a high degree of product and process complexity. Supports scale-up of new equipment and technology in manufacturing plants, including the development of standard work, technical training of operators, and scale-up to meet NPI objectives. Drive action plans to meet product deliverables and timelines. Provide support to resolve product quality issues and complex manufacturing problems in a timely fashion. Track and analyze technical problems to identify patterns/trends and determine cost effective ways to eliminate root causes. Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure alignment on product scope, quality, and production schedules. Drive a continuous improvement culture/mindset with respect to project delivery and leadership demonstrated through the utilization of performance metrics and defined performance improvement plans. Knowledge of Equipment and Machine Design Standards and Specifications including AWS, ANSI, and ASTM (preferred). Demonstrated advanced skills with the standard features of personal computers including word processing and spreadsheets (Microsoft Word and Excel, Project, Power Point, Outlook, and Internet Explorer). Developing and implementing innovative solutions to complex problems in a timely manner. Well organized, with the ability to multi-task. Must be able to lead and be a part of cross functional teams. Demonstrated ability to show initiative, work independently, and perform at a high level with little supervision. Familiarity with best-practices principles such as Six Sigma Total Quality Management (TQM) preferred. BS Degree in Engineering required. Mechanical preferred. Degree must be from an accredited institution. 2-5 or more years of experience designing and installing equipment in an industrial manufacturing environment (Layered process systems such as paper, steel, gypsum is preferred). Experience in troubleshooting, designing, and installing high speed molding and sanding equipment. Experience with diamond tooling (PCD tooling) Project Management Experience; Demonstrated Successful Execution including design and specification, purchase, installation, and startup of mechanical equipment. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, market conditions, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
