The Operations Center is a centralized source for coordination of incidents that impact the campus. They are responsible for facilitating coordination and communication during critical unplanned outages with the service providers, ITS Communications & Digital Services, and the office of the CIO. These IT Operations Analysts are responsible for management of the Information Technology Services (ITS) data centers and responsible for providing around-the-clock support for ITS business computing activities. The primary purpose of this position is to monitor, diagnose, and manage problems within our central network, as well as to provide a central strategic / tactical coordination facility for customers throughout the University as needed. The goal is to detect Network and Security problems before they impact the campus, and when necessary, limit their impact by taking immediate action. This position uses proprietary software to disable compromised user accounts to prevent the spread of malware and spam. In most cases, due to coverage requirements, the Operations Center Analyst must perform the above listed duties with limited additional staff, and with minimal supervision.Skills & Requirements• Bachelors degree in Computer Related field; no experience OR an Associates degree and light field work; OR (last resort) No Degree but more experience in field work such as incident management/monitoring;• If they have some experience, it would be desired to have some previous monitoring, diagnosing, managing centralized networks; someone that has previous exp detecting network and security problems before they impact the campus;• Work ethic- they need people that can hit the ground running, someone that can learn after being told a few times what to do• Timely: this person HAS to arrive on time.
