DescriptionSummary:Inpatient Acute Physical Rehab is the only facility in SWLA that is CARF accredited. Here nurses work side by side with Medical Director Sarah Clevenger, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists to deliver a tailored medical and rehabilitation program to serve individual needs. Nursing care duties include med/surg nursing practice and a working knowledge of therapeutic techniques to teach patients and family members new and efficient approaches to accomplishing ADLs and managing their own health. With an average length of stay being 11-14 days, we pride ourselves on putting hospitality back in hospital. This position also provides career opportunities including specialty certifications.Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care in accordance with facility and departmental policies and in accordance with standards of professional nursing practice. We see cardiovascular/thoracic patients and families that are post CABG, heart caths, valve replacements, thoracotomies, and other cardiothoracic surgical procedures. We also see general medical surgical patients that may have a primary cardiac diagnosis/history with co-morbidities that may need telemetry monitoring, as well as those patients needing critical cardiac drips. On Unit 41, we train our staff to detect medical issues before they become a problem, so they can respond to those emergent situations quickly and confidently. We have many opportunities for assessments, patient/family teaching, IVs, wound care, lab value analysis and medication administration/ management. Our average nurse to patient ratio is 4:1.
