Leads special projects to improve equipment and infrastructure of the UT Compost Facility. DescriptionSenior Line Installer I - Facilities Services MR09 – Starting Rate depending on experienceThe Facilities Services Department is responsible for the maintenance and operations of all facilities which includes utility, buildings, and grounds systems. The Sr Line Installer assists in the installation, operation, and maintenance of a large high voltage distribution systems for the U.T. Knoxville campus. This position provides good customer service to both internal and external customers. They also fill in for the foreman during absences and train other employees as necessary.  They inspect equipment on a regular basis in order to maintain the safety of students, staff, and the general public.QualificationsDuties, skills, and abilities:Under the supervision of the electrical foreman, this position inspects, maintains, and installs high voltage electrical systems and related components including but not limited to transformers, switches, switch gear, substation, and line work above and below ground. They will perform diagnostics, maintain, or repair all electrical HV systems on campus and ensure reliable operation of all critical research and laboratory electrical systems distributed to campus buildings. This individual will coordinate duties with the crew in the absence of the foreman and instruct them in the use of tools and materials. They will assist the foreman with duties as lead of the crew. They will be responsible for studying blueprints, taking off materials, inventorying stock, and ordering materials. Must study technical manuals and equipment information to improve knowledge and understanding of all the campus electrical systems and associated equipment. Must be available to take classes online and off campus from vendors to stay up to date on the latest maintenance and control strategies and technology. Must complete training to maintain and update skills, to assist contractors and other shops, and be able to instruct and assist junior personnel in proper procedures and daily work.
