Works closely with the· nurse to ensure any urgent incoming referrals are worked into the providers' schedules and communicated with the provider. Communicates with the referring office with updates to the patient's appointment.Verifies insurance and insurance eligibility for all incoming referrals. Runs eligibility using the EMR system and/or the payer's website. Ensures a suitable referral has been sent based upon the patient's type of insurance. Tracks the number of visits allowed for all Tricare referrals. Communicates with the referring office when more visits are needed for a Tricare referral, along with obtaining a new referral if a new diagnosis or surgery arises.Works closely with providers to obtain their approval on all outgoing medical records. Works with other physicians' offices, law firms, and/or insurance companies to ensure their requests for records are accurate and complete. Follows up with outside facilities to ensure records were received or sent. MONITOR TECHNICIAN-UNIT SECRETARY - CCU

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Receives demographic and clinical information regarding patient and initiates cardiac monitoring for patients being monitored remotely (telemetry). Observes cardiac monitors of the patients in the CCU and those in other areas of the hospital being monitored by remote cardiac telemetry. (Ongoing primary responsibility.)Responsible for interpretation/recognition of basic cardiac rhythms, with nurse supervision. Notifies the nurse of alarms generated at the central station.Answers incoming telephone calls. Takes messages, obtains information, provides information as appropriate regarding patient status/condition, and routes calls or messages to appropriate person or department.Maintains CCU log of admissions, dismissals, and transfers.Maintains contact with ancillary departments to request services, obtains test results if needed, and notifies appropriate staff of results. Schedules patients for services as requested by provider or nurse.Greets patient families/visitors. Provides an atmosphere reflecting courtesy and concern for patient and family well-being. Provides directions and information to patients, families, and visitors.Maintains work environment in an orderly fashion.Monitors information systems printer routinely throughout shift to ensure timely receipt and/or delivery of information.
