SUMMARY:The Tax Manager will support the tax function for the Company and its owners by partnering with outside tax advisors on all aspects of domestic and international taxes, including the tax planning, compliance, and provision procedures. The successful candidate will work with internal business partners, service providers, tax authorities and other tax professionals to carry out their responsibilities. Position reports directly to the Controller.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF ROLE:Facilitate and manage the preparation and review of international, federal and state tax returns (EU/ S Corp/individual/State alcohol excise/property) and the accurate, timely filing of all tax forms.Oversee outside tax preparers as they prepare federal and state tax returns and other tax documents.Plan for and develop overall return calendar and coordinate timing and delivery with key parties.Find and implement opportunities for process improvement in company tax procedures, including progressive advancements in digital technology, security and reporting.Assist in the development and implementation of strategic tax planning for all necessary federal and state taxes applicable to a high-net-worth family and privately-owned company, including estate and gift taxes.Maintain effective control procedures over all aspects of the tax process.Manage and facilitate federal and state income and excise tax audits: preparing responses, creating schedules, etc.Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments, communicate the effects of these developments to management and the tax team and create strategies to capitalize on changes to taxation legislation.Provide support with various internal audits and special tax related projects.Prepare/review quarterly/yearly tax projections and distribution calculations.Analyze complex ideas or proposals and build a range of meaningful recommendations.Assist in tax technical research regarding specific transactions and various ad hoc needs. This includes developing and writing technical memorandums or other correspondence.Use data and insights to inform conclusions and support decision-making.DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's degree in Tax and/or Accounting.Minimum 5+ years of progressive experience.
