This Quality Engineer will conduct several different types of analysis, testing and follow-up. Also, consistently ensuring that machines are set up correctly and reading measurements properly. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:Promote a safe working environment and adheres to all Silgan safety policies and procedures to prevent injury to self and co-workers.SPC implementation and system management. Assist Quality Manager and plant staff in managing the system and initial implementation and analyzation of the data.Facilitate activities and data review during mold qualifications.Initiate internal audits and control of audit documentation.Manage the AVBIS system.... Set-ups, maintenance, etc.Assist in procedural training.Review First article data analysis and last shots. Daily review of Quality documentation and data also perform C of A's and C of C's as necessary.Follow-up online issues as a result of documentation review and as directed by the Quality Manager.Perform GDP audits and file all production paperwork.Use all measuring devices and perform quality tests properly to produce results to assist production decision making. Quality test equipment includes but is not limited to the following: Calipers, height gauges, automatic non-contact dimensional measurement equipment, layer analysis microscope, wall thickness equipment, force gauges, drop impact tester, automatic bottle fill equipment, vacuum test equipment, optical comparator, and spectrophotometer. Read and understand drawings and spec sheets.Strong communication skills verbally, written and electronically. Place any defective product on hold and track the plant hold ware.Calibrate lab equipment as necessary.Learn internal software systems including Oracle and ETQ.Must follow and enforce Silgan Safety, Quality and GMP policies.Other duties assigned by the Quality Manager.AUTHORITY LEVEL (if applicable):EDUCATION: Required: Associate in applicable field.Preferred: Bachelor in applicable field.EXPERIENCE:Required: 5 years in a Quality related field, strong SPC knowledge and manufacturing experience.Preferred: 5 years as a Quality Engineer in a plastics manufacturing environment. SKILLS:Required: SPC data collection and analysis, ability to use measuring equipment and devices, and strong Microsoft Suite experience including Excel. A strong working knowledge of SPC and Quality experience in a manufacturing facility is integral for the role. Preferred: GFSI standards and quality auditing experience.
