Nemours Children's Hospital, Florida is seeking a Pediatric Epileptologist with expertise/training in epilepsy surgery, to join our rapidly growing team in Orlando.This key position represents an outstanding opportunity to help facilitate the continued growth phase of epilepsy program and epilepsy surgery at Nemours in Central Florida. You will be a joining rapidly growing epilepsy/neurology team. The epilepsy surgery team has experienced epileptologists, a highly experienced neurosurgeon, neuropsychologist, APPs, nurses and EEG technologists. The epilepsy program is equipped with a 6 bed EMU and ROSA. We have a busy outpatient practice with strong ancillary support including advanced practice providers, nurses, certified EEG technicians and social worker. There are opportunities for epilepsy subspecialty clinics including epilepsy surgery, intractable epilepsy, genetic epilepsy and ketogenic diet clinics. Research opportunities are encouraged, significant support and resources for research programs are available for qualified candidates, along with teaching medical students, adult neurology residents and pediatric residents, with academic appointments available through the University of Central Florida College of Medicine. An ambitious, multidisciplinary pediatric neurosciences program for Florida, is being developed by Nemours Children's Health. Department goals include the development of a Comprehensive Epilepsy Program, Child Neurology Residency program and epilepsy fellowship program. We have a busy outpatient practice with strong ancillary support including advanced practice providers (APP), nurses, certified EEG technicians, occupational and physical therapists, and social workers. Faculty is expected to cover the inpatient service in rotation. Neuroscience Nurse Supervisor - Ambulatory

Nemours is seeking Neuroscience Supervisor (Full-Time), to join our team in Orlando, Florida. The Neuroscience Nurse Supervisor is responsible for coordinating the care of patients with complex epilepsy followed by several of our neurologists and APPs. The coordinator would provide direct and indirect patient care in collaboration with the medical and nursing staff for patients and families followed by these subspecialty teams including services in the epilepsy monitoring unit (EMU) and outpatient care setting. The coordinator's one of the focuses will be patient workflow to the EMU and epilepsy surgery. The coordinator will play a critical role in building the epilepsy program. The Neuroscience Nurse Supervisor is responsible and accountable for clinical quality, service, and safety for assigned region. This position is responsible for promoting a patient and family centered model of care. The position will also be responsible for promoting the shared governance model for Nemours nursing and positive role modeling the Nemours standards of behavior and values. The Nurse Supervisor is responsible for maintaining compliance with all regulatory and patient safety practices for the designated location/department. Manages assigned Ambulatory Clinic staff promoting a healthy work and learning environment. Insures adequate training of new staff and ongoing training of existing staff. Maintains adequate coverage in the assigned clinical area and when necessary, provides justification for changes in staffing levels. Hires, counsels, and provides disciplinary actions to ambulatory clinic staff as necessary. Provides feedback and coaching to staff on an ongoing basis utilizing the Nemours standards of behavior. Performs timely annual performance reviews for all assigned staff in accordance with Human Resources policy and procedures. Additional miscellaneous duties and responsibilities, as may be assigned from time to time by employee's supervisor. Collaborates closely with the quality and safety team to ensure designated areas are always regulatory ready. Acts as the liaison between patients, their families, and members of the health care team, Coordinates clinic visits and pre-operative studies for patients scheduled for epilepsy surgery in collaboration with neurosurgeon and surgical epileptologists. Schedules patients for the EMU admission. Schedules the pre surgical tests including, MRI, PET, SPECT, WADA and functional MRI and others as needed. Participates in inpatient rounds and coordinates the outpatient follow up Manage the list of patients for pre surgical work up and epilepsy surgery, Responsible for tracking the pre surgical patient's tests and follow ups and epilepsy surgery, Schedules epilepsy surgery conferences. Responsible for coordination of discharge follow up in collaboration with the patients' physicians and APRN/PAs. In collaboration with patients' physicians and other providers, explains treatment regime to patients/families, i.e., pre-procedure instructions and admission process. Participates in research protocols and data collection in support of epilepsy research including data collection and input as needed. Responsible for collecting the data needed for USNWR report. Other duties as assigned. Requirements: Bachelor's Degree required. Master's Degree preferred. Minimum three (3) years of experience. American Heart Association BLS Certification required. State of Florida RN License or compact RN License required. EMU Care Certification will be required within one (1) year of start date.
