Who We Are: The Control Systems Department supports a wide variety of Sustainable Energy, Mobility, Powertrain, Aerospace and Defense projects across SwRI. We develop practical solutions by combining off-the-shelf and custom electronics, embedded systems and algorithms. System-level thinking is essential to support design and troubleshooting. Ideal candidates are insatiably curious to understand how things work, and how we can manipulate them. They are exceptionally high aptitude individuals who collaborate well with others. Objectives of this Role: Develop, implement and refine embedded control solutions across a variety of sustainable energy and mobility technologies.Systems may include control, data acquisition, and digital communications utilizing embedded systems (microcontrollers/FPGAs/CPLDs) and desktop applications (Windows/Linux) across various industries including vehicle powertrains and space flight systems.Apply principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis to meet project requirements.Lead the full lifecycle design for control and data acquisition systems for multiple applications; define requirements, write specifications, perform analysis, and implement designs from concept to final application; lead and work with team a of engineers.Collaborate with fellow staff, management, and clients to solve complex multidisciplinary engineering problems.Daily and Monthly Responsibilities: Collaborate with staff and clients to understand needs and imagine appropriate embedded system solutions.Leverage your embedded system technical experience to help develop novel solutions that are not commercially available based on microcontroller, DSP, FPGA, instrumentation and electronics.Develop, document, and execute test routines and procedures to validate and verify proper system operation.Troubleshoot new and existing embedded systems and the associated electromechanical systems.Apply principles and techniques of computer science, electrical and computer engineering, and mathematics to meet project requirements.Requirements: Requires a Bachelors, Masters or a PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering0 years: Embedded software development (C/C++/Verilog).0 years: Circuit analysis, troubleshooting and design for embedded systems.0 years: Must have strong fundamental and experience-based understanding of electronics, circuits, register-level configuration of microcontrollers/DSPs and of HDL for FPGAs.A valid/clear driver's license is required.
