The company is now certified by the state of Florida as a Minority Business Enterprise.Job Summary:A design Engineer I is beginning-level building engineering work in the planning and design of new construction, and remodeling/expansion of existing state facilities. Responsible for performing challenging fire sprinkler layout and design work on multiple projects according to the contracted scope of work. Duties include coordinating design work with other trades. The designer will complete permit drawings per code requirements for submittal and approval to various state and local agencies. The employee receives work assignments and supervision from design manager but is expected to perform with considerable independence on projects assigned.Essential Functions, Duties, Responsibilities: • Reviews plans and specifications prepared by firms to ensure agreement with designated scope of work, that work complies with all applicable codes and good engineering practice, and that construction costs are within appropriated amount.• Required to design projects in accordance with project specifications. Drawings will be done using the most current version of AutoCAD, be neat and orderly and shall contain all pertinent information for installation of projects in the field. Track estimated hours for completion of projects and complete jobs within the estimated hours.• Required to hydraulically calculate system design and calculations• Stock lists each job that is drawn. All lists that are submitted should be correct when compared to what is installed. Purchasing and Fabrication lists must be prepared and given to the appropriate departments in a timely manner.• Prepare each job for submittal to the proper authorities in a timely manner.
