Position Description The Process Safety Engineer will be based at Elba Island in Savannah Georgia where Kinder Morgan operates an LNG import/export terminal and liquefaction facilities. This position will report to the Engineering Supervisor and will interact closely with the Compliance, Maintenance, and Operations groups as well. This position is responsible for activities relevant to the process safety of facilities for gas treatment, liquefaction, regasification, and ship loading/unloading at the LNG terminal. The role will include ownership of facility Process Safety Information, primary ownership of the MOC process, working with operations personnel and other engineers on all aspects of the process including instrumentation, control schemes, cause and effects, isolation plans, and incident investigations. Essential duties and responsibilities: Advocate / provide leadership for process safety at the LNG terminal Remain current on applicable codes and standards (49 CFR 193, NFPA 59A, etc.) Manage process safety framework including the implementation of elements that improve process safety maturity and value within Kinder Morgan Operate as a technical leader that ensures alignment with industry best practices and Kinder Morgan practices relating to process safety and risk management Identify, maintain, and implement industry engineering practices and standards with respect to formal process safety assessment techniques that are fit for purpose for Kinder Morgan. Utilize process engineering fundamentals to maintain a safe operating facility, as well as contribute to commissioning and start-up of new equipment Design, implementation and continuous improvement of all process safety and risk management systems.
