Student Learning and SupportWork with the PowerSchool coordinator to ensure the effective use of the administrative softwareWith the Principal's Office support the implementation of bell schedules Teach one section of a course in an area of expertisePublish an on-going revision of the course catalog across different platforms: website, catalog document, A-G approval through UC systemWith the Principal's Office, determine teaching assignments and room assignmentsWork with the Academic Counseling Department to support course enrollment processWith the Powerschool Coordinator, lead the process of determining the school's instructional schedule for the school year.Partnership with Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP)Actively partner with the Executive Director of the CWSP to create true partnership, enlivening and enriching the full Cristo Rey experience with professional experienceDemonstrate enthusiasm for the CWSP and its valuable contribution to student experience Plan for the integration of the CWSP with Academics, including incorporating CWSP into academic team decision-making, crisis management, academic staff onboarding, calendar planning, event coordination, student discipline, and school policy-making Engage in creative problem solving in collaboration with the Principal and Executive Director of the CWSP to address issues as they ariseStrategic PlanningAssist the Principal and other members of the Academic Leadership Team (ALT) in developing and executing a strategic planIn collaboration with the Principal, predict the needs of staff, students, and families in pursuing the strategic plan, anticipate barriers, and develop measures to ensure effectiveness and plan for contingenciesAssist the Principal in designing processes and systems for progress monitoring goals and metrics across all critical areas of the strategic planStudent Support and SafetyMeet with students and parents regarding retention issues, helps counsel students in collaboration with Admissions, Dean of Student Culture, Work Study, and counselorsCollaborate with the Principal and Dean of Student Culture on major behavior issues including potential violence, substance abuse, and repeated behaviors that could lead to removal from schoolIn collaboration with the Principal and Dean of Student Culture, oversee school emergency response and serve on the security call list 24/7School Culture and Family InvolvementAlong with the Principal, develop a school culture that values the unique gifts that all staff, students and families bring, work to guarantee an inclusive school environment, and ensure that parents are welcomed and an integral part of the school community Promote a culture of continuous improvement that focuses on high expectations and high support, drawing particular attention to equity gaps and commits to their elimination Model school values and mindsets and hold self and others accountable to maintaining the standards for adult cultureCollaborate with the Principal to develop strategies for meaningful and reciprocal family and community engagementGeneral School FunctioningAssist the Principal in developing and executing strategies to improve performance of academic staff over time, supporting the short and long term success of each academic staff memberIn collaboration with the Principal, actively participate in the school's admissions process, helping to set guidelines, timelines, and enrollment goals consistent with the school's approved operating budget and mission.In collaboration with the Principal, identify program needs, present an instructional budget to the Principal and CFOO each year, manage the instructional budget, and approve all school expenditures within the budgetPartner with the Principal and the Coordinator of Academics Operations in overseeing accreditation with the Western Catholic Educational Association (WCEA), the Jesuit Province, and the Cristo Rey NetworkWork with the CFOO and/or Facilities Director to coordinate the use of the school facilitiesAssume other duties as assigned by the Principal.Qualifications and ExperienceCandidates for Assistant Principal must have the following qualifications and experience: Bachelor's degree, teaching credential, and pursuing a master's degree in educational leadership or administrationAt least two years of experience as a school assistant principal or as a member of an academic leadership team is preferred. Experience and excellence in educating and connecting on a personal level with students from historically underrepresented demographic groups (including low-income, Latinx, Asian and Black students) Demonstrated commitment to Catholic, faith-based educationDemonstrated ability to connect with and engage families, including family members for whom English is a second languageDemonstrated ability to inspire, lead, manage and work collegially with faculty and staffStrong background in a rigorous, standards-based, college-ready curriculumExemplary interpersonal skills with faculty, staff, parents, students and community memberFluency in Spanish is preferred.
