SHIFT: Every other weekend 2:30pm-11:00pmMAIN FUNCTION:Under the direction of the Support Services Manager and within established organizational and departmental policies and procedures, responsible for performing a variety of duties, including transporting patients, and sorting, processing and delivering mail and packages.This position is part of the 1199SEIU Bargaining Unit at Cooley Dickinson Hospital. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Use proper body mechanics to transport patients and equipment to all areas of the hospital. Transport and lift bodies into the morgue.Transport blood to the floors as requested.With, or without, nursing personnel, transfer patients onto and/or off beds, wheelchairs, and stretchers during patient transport.Change oxygen tanks and maintain proper number of oxygen tanks in each unit.Ensure proper IV positioning; make minor body adjustments and reset IV accordingly during patient transport.Monitor patients requiring one to one observation, reporting change(s) in conditions and needs, and care as supervisor indicates.Respond to security and life safety issues as needed.Process incoming and outgoing mail and packages using a variety of delivery companies including, but not limited to, United States Postal Service, United Parcel Service and Federal Express.Process and track packages using UPS computer.Process outgoing letters using an automated mailing machine.
